Pain Two Weeks Out

Hi all.  I had my surgery two weeks ago tomorrow.  I hardly had any pain after surgery, however, three days ago I started having a pretty paid pain on my right side (it feels kind of like the catch you get in your side when you are exercising if you know what that feels like).  It hurts pretty bad (so bad that I had to take my prescription pain med on Friday).  Any ideas if this is normal pain or something unusual?  Could it be gas pains?

I plan to call my doctor tomorrow if it is still bad but I would love to hear from some of you too.  Thanks.

You may have what is called "trapped nerves"  I have 2 of them w/ this surgery. Makes it difficult to take a deep breath also.

One leading from drain sight down into outer thigh;  the other right side incision up through under my breast & Down my arm.  I have had trapped nerves before, they do go away, however if you cant stand the pain - see you primary & ask for cortisone/ lidocaine shot near the incision site.

Very possible that it's gallbladder. If it get's unbearable, go to the ER. Always better safe than sorry. Best of luck, hun.

I am two weeks out tomorrow, too. I have had that pain the entire time. If it is excruciating, call your doctor. But also check yourself for a fever. I hope mine goes away soon... :(

I'm also 2 weeks out and have had very little pain since about 4 days post-op. Have you strained yourself in any way recently? Hopefully it is just gas or something simple but I would definitely put a call into my doctor ASAP. If it's excruciating, and you've not experienced it before, you may want to call him now and head to the ER. My doctor told me if I experienced any terrible or unusual pains, to head to the ER and call him on the way. I hope you feel better soon and that it's nothing serious. Prayers for you!

My surgeon thinks it sounds like a strain. I carried my (very large) 2 year old last Thursday and that probably did it.

For those of you also 2 weeks out, what are you eating/drinking this week. I am not getting much protein at all and wondering how you are doing.

I'm a week out today...I've had that pain from day one..under my right abdomen/rib area. I can't sleep on my side without it hurting and when I'm walking, getting up from sitting and sometimes sitting on the toilet even...it hurts.  Actually has me holding my breath.   It's possible that our livers were a little bruised during surgery.  They do have to lift it up with this tool that spreads out wide like I think....that being said...talking to your doctor about it is the thing to do.

I had the same issue on Right side. - it is a trapped nerve. I put on a sports bra & wear it all night - prevents "pulling"  I also got myself comfortable on Left side & stuffed a pillow under my back for support. Was finally able to sleep more than 2 hours.
