APPROVED AFTER 6 MONTHS!!!

I got a phone call on Wednesday evening that I had (finally) gotten approved for my sleeve.  That is 4 days short of 6 months (from my first seminar till approval.)  I got my insurance advocate, who is the coolest person ever, on the phone and she got everything I needed taken care of and told me that the nurse would call me to schedule on Friday.  The nurse called and I found out that I have to switch Dr.s so we had to get an approval for that but that I could go ahead and tentatively schedule.  I am down for OCTOBER 8TH!!!!!!!  It's so close and I'm sooooo excited.  My doctor switch was approved so... here we go.  Sorry that this is such a plotless jumble :D I'm too excited to make a good story.  My point is, if you are having trouble getting approved and you know you qualify KEEP TRYING!!! I was turned down, then lost my appeal.  The problem was that my initial weigh in was a few pounds short but subsequent ones from my surgeon's office and other doctor's offices were dead on.  They were only looking at that first weigh in.  The solution was to resubmit EVERYTHING.  That got them to look at the big picture and not the first line and throw it out.

I am very happy for you. I was also on the edge for weight and had my surgery 5 1/2 months ago. The first bit came off quickly and then I hit stalls. Don't be impatient if this happens to you. I lost lots of inches during my stalls. Measure everything. That way you will have another scale to go by and won't feel frustrated when your body is trying to catch up and rearrange everything so it can continue the weight loss. Congratulations and welcome to the health train.

Congrats! Super exciting!

I am currently waiting for approval. My first letter was sent a week ago today, so I am hoping to hear back soon. I can barely stand the wait. I hope I'm luck enough to get approved right away. If all goes well my surgery will likely be right around the same time as yours.

I love happy insurance endings. I fought for 6 months as well from seminar to approval (November-May). Congratulations on your upcoming surgery.
