exercise suggestions for leg problem?
Does anyone have any suggestions on exercises that don't use your hips? (That question makes me laugh.) Or are low impact on your hips? Last week, I was laying in bed, and I moved my leg a couple of inches, and something cracked really loud. My leg and hip have been hurting on and off ever since, and usually when I'm finished with work, it's stiff. It's getting better, but very slowly. I've been taking tylenol, and heat and ice make it hurt like heck. I have a herniated disc, and this isn't the same thing. My dr. said it happens sometimes to people who lose large amounts of weight because you don't have the cushioning between your joints anymore. I'm not getting in the exercise I'm supposed to be doing at this point because of this, and I'm not sure what to do for exercises. Any exercise suggestions?

Definitely water exercise! They say the elliptical is easy on the joints, but I don't know how it affects the hips. I hope you feel better soon. Hip pain is no fun. A few years ago I had a hip fracture and it was miserable trying to heal it up. Then I pulled a muscle in my hip bellydancing last year and it took a long time to heal.
