I know it's a lot of PB, but besides that, would it be good as a replacement for the "real" thing?

IMVHO that is the real thing.

I just ran the numbers for that recipe in MFP.  Assuming the MFP values are correct per ingredient, and assuming 24 cookies per batch (but there might be less than that -- no serving size or yield was given that I saw), one gets per cookie 89 calories, 2g protein, 10g carbs, 6g fat.  It's highly carb-laden with not much protein to offset those values.

Not something I would eat, personally.

ok. thanks. I was just asking. I doubt that I would ever make it for myself because I doubt I would be able to get past the chick peas since I don't like them, but if I did make them, I wouldn't be putting the regular peanut butter or choc chips in. And I  like baking so I'm always looking for things to bake and have other people try.

I like baking too, especially for others, though I'm not very good at it. It's such precise chemistry! But I've been baking a lot more since I had the surgery (and since I got to the point where I could eat normal foods). Protein is most important so I focus on finding ways to get protein into the baked good and substituting for the carb elements.

It looks like the recipe for the cookie bites is based on trying to be gluten-free, which is a start, but gluten-free recipes are often high in carbs and fat. A better source for recipes to tweak would be paleo and low carb sites. Sites I like:

Ok... IMVHO looking for "replacements" for Junk is a slippery slope...
Your not going to maximize weight loss looking for substitutes to the very thing that got you heavy and unhealthy in the first place...get to goal first, then see if your a person who can have a "treat" every now and then...like once a month or so..

I agree that looking for replacements is a very very slippery slope and one that should be avoided at all costs.
