Sutures out- tape still on...

I posed this over on the plastics forum- but thought I'd copy here.  Uneventful, but  I think it's nice to report  times when there isn't drama going on...12 days out from Anchor cut TT. Second post-op visit completed.  Got in just infront of some baaaad weather that is coming in- Whew.  Had the sutures removed, but the tape was replaced.  I'm supposed to leave it on till next week, then take it off myself.  I'll see him in one month.  Bottom line is this- He said he removed about 12 lbs of skin and a little fat.  I'm down 3 lbs from pre-surgery and he expects more to drop off as swelling goes down.  "IF" that happens I'll weigh about what I remember weighing in the 5th grade.  Imagine!  I'm feeling great!  Get to return to work (teaching, so no great physical effort) Monday if I want and just "heal".  Upper and lower tummy flat- 4 inches smaller in the waist and more supposedly to loose.  This binder thing is my true frienamy- in it 24/7 for another week, then just when I am up and around for another 3 weeks after.  All continues well in my world- hoping for continued non-issues with this.  All smiles, Bonnie

Ah, Shaggy, what an adventure this has been.  Another goal to work thriough to its' conclusion.  Can't wait to see how it turns out. I'll be posting some pics for my first years' surgversity.  Won't be totally healed from the TT-  (some puffyness) but I can see a big difference even now.  I never would have imagined being excited about "body image" at this time in my life (59) but, (giggle-tee-hee) I sure am.  Better late than ever.  Hubby so sweet about it!

I am going in on Monday for mine.  Do you think that returning to the classroom after a few weeks given I spend  a LOT of time bent at the waist (computer lab teacher, desk tops literally only hit me just above the knee) will be feasible?  I know if I was still in my 5th grade classroom no problem, but I am worried about the strain of bending like that 6 hours a day.

I am soooo glad to read your recovery is going well!  That is a lot of weight they took off there too- I am surprised!  How very cool, down 200 pounds and a flat tummy for you too- I am so happy for you!!

HA! Bending over will seem the natural thing for you to do for a while.  Pulling the skin together along with the sutures will leave you hunched over for a while- it is one residule of the surgery that I'm still working on- that is, straightening up.  I, too, am surprised at how quickly my recovery has been.  I "studied " the boards and thought it would take much longer- but, really, I think I'm more than up for it come Monday (2 weeks).  I didn't have any muscle tightening and very little lipo- not much fat there (a first, I'm sure)-  I understand those procedures add to the recovery time some.  Yah, I had lots of skin!  And it's not there anymore-  won't be for you, either--so excited for you.  Power through, lady, and keep us posted.  Praying an uneventful procedure, skillful surgeons hands, and restful healing for you.  Take care and  rest well.  I'll be thinking of you Monday.  Bonnie.

Thanks Bonnie-

I am having some muscle tightening and he said lipo, but I have no idea how to quantify if it is a lot or a little relative to the procedure.  It seems like though given your experience that I should be able to return first day back in January.  I guess not being able to straighten up well is a good match for my job, lol- never thought of it that way!  I love that your recovery went so well!
