Almost 5 months out and I"m surprised that I even have any hair left in my head!! Went to get a trim yesterday and I think the hairdresser was afraid to touch it, just comes out in my hand. Very depressing!!

I'm right there with you, Judy - so depressing!  Every day it gets a little harder to hide my scalp :-(  I've done everything right i.e. lots of protein, water, all the right vitamins and supplements, sleeping with a silk pillowcase, etc.  And I STILL am getting lots of shed each day.  Keeping my fingers crossed that by month 8 or 9 that this will slow down.

I am with you.  My hair loss started at 3 months and has started to slow down around month 9.  my hairdresser said she can see a lot of new growth. Hang in there.

I am 7 months out, and the hair loss is slowing, though not done.  This may be because there is a lot less hair to fall out!  I have to use a foam for body and blow dry my hair so you don't see my scalp.  I see a little growth coming back, but certainly not a lot.  I was hoping that I'd be done with this by now.  But, truly, if I needed to wear a wig, I'd do it for the weight loss.  I feel so much better.  I have more energy and I'm happier.  It is so worth it.

best wishes, everyone.  This too shall pass.

There is nothing you can do to prevent the hair loss. It is a result of the shock of surgery and nothing can prevent it. My attitude was: "if I can't control it, why worry about it?"

At eight months my hair is starting to come back. Life is good.

Hi Judy!  so sorry it's still falling out on you.....I've been used to thinning hair for years, due to thyroid/medication issue.....I do see loss on hubby (but don't tell him!)...he's 8 months out, loss just started about 2 months ago....guess we are all different as to whether and when it will happen.  I am always saying "joan rivers great hair day"...get a color lighter than you think you need...it's been a blessing to me.

recently my hairdresser said she saw little baby hairs coming back in, so that's good..yours will let you know....  I do take biotin, but that only seems to make my hair grow faster (I can tell from the greys!)...but not fuller....try out different products, hair styles, etc...good luck!!

I'm 7 months out, and the new growth is funny - little 1 or 2 inch pieces sticking straight up, like I have a crew cut hiding under my longer hair!

Hang in there - I always thought that if it got too bad, I'd go wig shopping.  I wish wigs were more in these days.  It would be fun to change my look every day!

I was the same way, or felt the same way I should say. I kept a lint roller with me because my hair was on everything and everywhere. I lost hair consistently for 3 months, just in handfuls. Then it stopped, now I look like a chia pet of sorts with the wacky regrowth. It will slow down and stop, try not to stress more. I know that is so much easier said then done!
