Pain after surgery

Hi everyone I'm sure this was asked millions of times. But I'm on my iPad and for some reason I can't search old posts. My laptop is wiped out from a virus  I know everyone deals with pain differently. Some may not have pain. But I have a zero threshold for pain and I'm freaking out. What was your experience afterwards. Thanks for taking the time to read my post.

I felt like I'd done about a thousand sit-ups. It was an ache more than a stabbing pain. BUT, when I tried to roll over in the bed? OH, MAN.... PAIN. That is why they give us the GOOD meds :)

I had Dilaudid in my PCA pump for the first 24 hours after surgery.  I think I have a fairly high pain threshold but after I left recovery, I felt AMAZING.  Until they took the PCA pump away, then I just felt ok.  They gave me roxicet (liquid percocet) every 4 hours, and sent me home with 75 mL of it (the dose is 5-10 mL every 4-6 hours).  I had plenty left over.

My abdomen started hurting pretty bad late on the second day.  I told the head surgeon I felt like I got run over; he said norally people told him they felt like they'd been in a knife fight.  It was not as bad as my c-sections as far as pain level (for instance coughing was more scary than painful).

Pain-wise, this one was a breeze! You'll get pain meds right out of recovery. I got Dilaudid and Demerol for a few hours, which kept me pretty drowsy. After that, I was off them and onto oral pain meds and walking the halls. I did have some cramping and burning in my incisions a few days post-op which Tylenol and muscle relaxants helped. It was more annoying than anything. The first night home, I felt a little 'odd' in the belly when I turned over, but it didn't keep me from sleeping.

I've had worse pain stubbing my damn toe, honestly.

I thought I had a high pain tolerance. I've had 2 c-sections which were nothing. This surgery surprised me with how painful it was, and I just went of my prescription dialaudid yesterday. I'm just taking Tylenol now and am doing well. I had mine done a week ago today. I will say sleeping still sucks because I like sleeping on my side and that is not possible right now. So my nights have been pretty rough.

Thanks for your comment. Oh dear I'm a side sleeper and stomach sleeper :(. I could never sleep on my back. I'm hoping it's not painful for me. It's the afterwards I get really sick from the stuff they use to put you to sleep. Glad things are getting better.

I felt pain for a minute or two when I was semi awake in the recovery room and after I woke up in my room I never felt pain again.  I used a pain pump for another day in the hospital and the next day moved to ibuprofen.  By the time I was discharged I was not taking anything.  Good luck.

Are you sure it was ibuprofen?  Just asking because I was under the impression ibuprofen, like naproxen, was an NSAID which bariatric patients can't take any more.  I wish I could, since i have plantar fasciitis that doesn't respond well to acetominophen.

I read that you can take NSAID with the gastric sleeve where the gastric bypass you can't. This just what I read.
