Gained 20 pounds-April 22 having TT, Breast Lift, Implants, Lipo, Fat injected in my buttocks

This is hard for me to admit but I gained 20 pounds in the last two months since i went off my Topamax medication that I was on for about 4 months.  I was hospitalized with  CIPRO antibiotic poisoning and lost all feeling and strength in my right leg. The pain was excruciating and could barely walk up one step. I thought I had a stroke, going lame was more like it. All my tests came back ok, from MRI, blood work, xrays etc etc. Topamax is the worst drug to be on. they put me on Topamax as pain medication for my nerves. I literally went stupid and couldn't talk. They say it curbs your appetite but I still ate through the medication and made sure I got my nutrition.  Well going off the medication was when I went out of control with food. I had no control when it came to eating. it was the weirdest thing.  I had the worst groin, hip, buttocks, hamstring and back pain. sitting and laying down was the worst. when i stood up is when i had relief.  anyhow its too much to write, and did go out of control with eating going off topamax. I was happy it curbed my appetite but nobody told me the rage hunger would come when I stopped the medication. I also was on steroids which made me crave sugar. i am a little over 3 years out from my sleeve surgery and hadnt had sugar until the steroids.  yes this also opened up my appetite.  I lost hearing 1/2 way in my left ear. etc etc etc...  too much to write.

Having said that and admitting i gained weight here on OH is very hard for me. I feel like in order for me to recover I have to start somewhere.  I feel awful. I was 141 and now I am 161. I am about to have a tummy tuck, lipo in my hips, sides, and back, breast lift, and silicone implants, and my doctor will inject some fat into my buttocks. I have a big butt so i told him i dont want much.

my fear is having a tummy tuck and losing this 20 pounds after surgery, will my skin start to sag and am i having this surgery to early>?. I have 13 days to lose as much as  I can.  I am hoping for a 10 pound weight lost and realize it may only be 5 or may be nothing.

This is the perfect time to have surgery because i dont go back to wor****il the end of May. So if i have the surgery and lose more weight, will I have done this surgery for nothing and have saggy skin all over again?  its only 20 pounds but let me tell you 20 pounds lighter my skin was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more lose and saggy than it is now. I am filled in more now than 20 pounds in other words.

I dont want any negative feedback or to be criticize  for gaining 20 or having surgery done in Mexico. I met this surgeon and my girlfriend has a successful surgery 2 days ago, woke up and got home safe.

I am afraid of scars, not waking up, having too high of expectations.  Also my boyfriend broke up with me about 5 weeks ago. he moved me out and I am baffled because we rarely fought. I didnt see it coming.  He says he doesnt do sick very well when I was hospitalize back late September for a week and watched me go through a long recovery. I am still not 100%  i have pain in my right hip buttocks when i get up from sitting and it takes a few steps to get going.

I am starting to get a sore throat, a cough and i am on antibiotics. I am hoping it goes away by surgery.  Any helpful information how to prepare for surgery is appreciated, what to expect,  anything  from pain and how long to whatever you want to share is welcome.

but again please be positive.  I also welcome the concerns and ask that you be gentle with me.  :)  Thank you and sorry for typos. I am not proof reading my post here.

by the way I think I am going through the surgery. My only reservation is scars.  I have been thinking about this the last 2 years and as time goes on I take it seriously.  also my drain will be in me for 2 weeks oppose to 7 to 10 days because my Doctor will be at a plastics convention. I am not happy about that.  I remember with the sleeve the drain hurt my shoulder and only had it in for a few days. i know this is a different surgery but still remember the pain until it was removed, then poof shoulder pain gone immediately when the drain was removed.

Wow, you have a lot going on here.  So I am going to address issues you brought up one at a time.

1.  Medicine and weight gain.  The good news is there is a clear correlation as to why you put the weight on.  You know how to lose it, and now that you are aware of how the medicine is affecting you it will help you to be mindful about your eating.  Steroids are tough- every time I am on them I gain.  Just be aware, keep very low calorie food around, and banish all of the sugar.

2. Scars- I had abdominoplasty and have an anchor scar.  Yep, it is a doozy.  The first two weeks when they were scabbed over they looked like hell.  I am about 5 months out now and they are very distinct and pink... but they have faded mightily already and I have very pale skin.  The scars are totally worth it.  I had made goal, but could do nothing about the extra skin on the tummy (carried most of my weight there).  I have a flat tummy, beautifull hips, and a great hour glass figure.  I can wear dresses or tight blouses without spanx.  I love it!  So worth the scars, and the scars given time will fade down to nothing.

3.  Boyfriend. He was being honest.  It sucks, but it is what it is.  You deserve someone who can accept you for who you are and to support you when that is needed.

4. Try not to worry about the sore throat, and keep taking your antibiotics.  Trust the surgeons to know how to proceed.

5.  I was told initially that my drains would be in for about 2 weeks.  I had four of them, 2 of which stayed in for a month.  I dreaded them, but you adjust very quickly to them.  I have a double mastectomy coming up in a few days with drains for that, and I am not even batting an eye about it.  Just remember that they are temperorary and very, very needed.  The are a nuisance, but not overally painful or anything.

6.  I can't comment on your conditiion that triggered the topamax, but it sounds pretty awful.  I am so sorry you had to go through that.

Plastic surgery is a slice of awesome pie!  You will not relish the recovery, but it is very tolerable and manageable- and the results are soooooo worth it!  PM me if you have any questions on the TT.  Good luck with everything.

Bless your heart--so much going on!  Ditto everything happy teacher said above.  Wise words from a person bravely dealing with multiple issues.  My two cents is this--Iv'e had two plastics procedures and went into both very healthy in body and mind (not perfect- but solid).  You want to have this done in good health- nothing major to complicate the procedure or the deep healing necessary after.  I hope you will be perfectly transparent with your surgeon and caretakers, and that they are as aware of all your issues  as you have been generous to let us know.  Be flexible and open to all professional recommendations, even if they differ from your time/plan for things.  I wish you success and health and healing.  Bonnie

Thank you.  I have been having alot going on for some time now.  All I care about is waking up... no complications being in Mexico, healing in time to return to work late may. and yes the scar not being too high or uneven.   I checked in my girlfriend today who had her plastics monday and she says she is sore.  Thank you for your support.  I feel like I want to do this for me.  Its now or later and I do want to heal now.

A lot of issues there but for all those you have got a wonderful reply out there! I did research in my area and found a plastic surgeon here in Oakland. He was so comfortable that I booked my BA the very same day. My hubby is a bit squeamish when it comes to surgery, etc and my doc took the time to make him feel comfortable and to walk him thru the aftercare personally. Now he's a believer! Yay!-

The Doctor is IN!!! Hey, I'm also having plastics (April 25).  If it helps, my surgeon said that they need some fat to help with the contouring, so it may not be as big a deal as you might think.  I'd say if you are worried about that just ask him.  The scar is worrying but every time I fixate on that, I just look at my current tummy and think...uh yeah, it will still be better.   So we'll go through it together.  Hang in there girl.  When this time is past, you'll be happy to have it behind you with a brighter future ahead.

Circumferential skin removal with butt augmentation.  Not sure if it will be an anchor cut or not (surgeon thinks not but may call an audible).  Its getting close enough for the nerves to kick in.
