Never in my WILDEST dreams !!!

I am not a regular contributing member, however I do read the posts on a regular basis.

I started this Journey 18 months ago (2012), went through the local RNY siminars and was declined by my insurance company. There was no way that I was going to be paying $30,000 out of pocket for the surgery. 6 months ago (2013), I had resolved myself to go ahead and bite the bullet and spend the $30,000. I got back into my RNY research mode 4 months ago (Dec 2013), I read a post about a lady that had a VSG instead of a RNY with great success and no malabsorption issues ... I was intrigued to say the least because my local surgeon never informed me of this option.

I found this website and on December 20th 2013, I scheduled my VSG for January 22, 2014 in Mexico.

I will be reaching my 3 month Post Operation anniversary date this coming Wednesday.

My heaviest weight was 275 lbs, surgery weight was 270 lbs, my GOAL weight is 190-200 lbs. I am a broad chested stocky male in my late 40's.

I have had a great 3 months with "0" issues (I count my blessings). I have had 2 stalls during my weight loss but have consistently been losing the weight. I LOVE the fact that I don't feel hungry all of the time when I don't eat. The removal of the Stomach Fundus has caused the ghrelin trigger to disappear.... it's wonderful.

Today I weighed in at 219 lbs and never in my WILDEST dreams did I ever think I would have lost so much in so little time. I Thank all of the veterans that had share their experiences, it helped with my decision and was the best money ever spent.

I feel Good, I look Good and best of all I'm only 20 pounds from reaching my goal. I am proud of myself and should have done this surgery 2 years ago.

For the NEWBIES that are researching the facts and debating wether to have or not have the surgery ..... GO FOR IT !!!!!! It's like catching a second wind in life.
