New. Job...and fat jokes!
So, here's the one I haven't been able to figure out, yet. I do work in the same place I did as a heavy person (18 years, in fact at 300+++pounds, give and take). Never, in all that time did I hear a "fat" joke, aimed at me or anyone, for that matter. Now, I'm hearing them! Being told them as if I would find them funny! It's as if, at a normal weight, Iv'e been invited into the inner sanctum and given permission to share in the hilarity of fat bashing! What is wrong with these people?

Good for you for having the courage to speak out against this deep seated problem. I refuse to watch that horrible Bill Maher show anymore because he cannot forgo a Chris Christie fat joke for a single episode.

I find it amazing the stupidity of people who show their prejudices to people they barely know. Especially in a work environment where the consequences can be devastating to their career. When will people learn that at work...EVERYTHING is off limits. Be professional!
Good for you for putting them in their place!
Thank you for standing up. Obviously it's up to you, but nothing wrong with documentation. Pre-op I find my self justifying others 'fat jokes' and others 'treatment of me' as my own issues...i.e. how I carry myself, my confidence, etc...
Working with my counselor to realize that self blame is not helpful, nor an excuse for others to judge or discriminate.
Good luck on your journey!
