I need to get a juicer that will juice leafy greens as wekk as fruit but i don't want to send $300 +.  So i'm looking for your experiences.  What model are you using?  How much did it cost you?

Hi,

I use a Breville juicer at a cost of $150 (current price on Amazon).  It does a great job making green juice, but it is not the most efficient machine meaning you will not extract ALL of the juice and hence have a slightly higher veggie cost.  A masticating juicer does a better job I heard of getting more out of the veggies, but I also heard they were slower.  I am very impatient and would rather buy extra veggies :)  Anyway, I have used the Breville for at least a year now and it still works very well.  Easy enough to clean too.  Storage of it sucks.

I have the Omega masticating juicer and you are right that it takes more time, but I think the juice is delicious.

imo, juicing is just foolish for WLS patients, unless you aren't including the pulp and fiber from the whole vegetable/fruit ... you are just making yourself sugar water with a tiny tiny amount of nutrient in it.  blend that stuff!  not juice.

I have serious texture issues :)  I juice for the nutrients, and use primarily veggies with just a little fruit.  I was ok during weight loss, but i would do it maybe 2-3 times a week, 8 ounces.  It really helped my labs when I was low in a few areas, and my skin looked great too! If I could deal with the fiber left in though, I totally would.  Maybe I will try once more in my Ninja to see if maybe I can tolerate it.
