You wouldn't be allowed to take already made ones due to the liquid rule.  But you could take powder in a blender bottle and buy milk or water once you were past security to mix the shake with.

I measured out my powder in a shaker bottle for my flights home from surgery. You can ask for a doctors note and they have to honor it. We had issues taking my infant daughters premixed formula. They insisted on opening the containers. I whipped out tsas guidelines on traveling with allowed substances and they backed off.

If you can take sealed travel size protein packets with you that might be easier than baggies of white protein powder, if you know what I mean. My dietician also suggested using those small Activia probiotic drinks which are within size allowances. Also, they can be frozen ahead and will likely thaw during your flight.

Same here! They know what substances they are looking for! ;) I worried about it the first few times, and it's not even a second thought now!

I have had no probs taking my protein powder in a baggie on flights at all.   Once past security, I go to a coffee place where I order iced coffee and an empty extra larger cup, and a bottle of water which I am going to need regardless.  I melt my protein in the larger cup with a little bit of water and then pour the iced coffee in!  Voila, ready to go on board the plane with my iced 'latte'!  [it works with hot coffee as well, but you have to let the coffee cool down so the protein doesn't clump.]

I have even taken an extra disposable cup with me (empty of course) through security, and had no problem with them.  It was however a PITA to carry around so I just started getting the cups once inside.

If you don't like coffee, just use water or milk - the point being it shouldn't be a problem at all.

I pre-measure in snack size baggies.  But them in my shaker bottle with the whip-ball and then mix up one as needed.  I have used water, coffee and milk depending on the flavor and have never had an issue.
