insurance approval

how long is the average wait time for the insurance company to approve  wls 

I have BCBS of IL, it's a PPO.

My surgeon submitted to BCBS on July 30th. I called and they confirmed they received it. They told me the average turn around time frame is 21-30 days for an answer.... HOWEVER I've had two different reps tell me I'll most likely have an answer in about 2 weeks.

So I sit and wait!! UGH

I have BCBS of MI-PPO and they said 7-10 days..i had approval in like 5 days...not counting the weekend... :)

I have united healthcare and was told they have a month to make a decision but they don't always take that long. My paperwork was submitted yesterday so my waiting game has just begun! Good luck :)

ok that's what i have 

Depends on the insurance.  I got my approval before I even knew my surgeon had submitted to insurance :P

I have Aetna and it took exactly 7 days.

I have Meritain/Aetna was approved in two days.

I also have United Healthcare.  They submitted the application on 7/18, the approval letter was dated 7/21, and I received said letter 7/28 - so it took longer to mail me the letter than to make the decision ;)

So after all that, I am not even scheduled until 9/16 (mostly due to my work schedule)
