Recent studies keep showing that sugar substitutes are bad for us, so I avoid them as much as possible.

My bff is vegan and would have few problems with a sleeve diet, but it would take a LOT of planning.

giving up meat fish eggs and dairy will make it much harder to get enough protein

health wise someone with the sleeve is probably better off eating animal source proteins , It is possible to stay healthy on a vegan diet but it is very hard not to eat to many cal in order to get enough protein, much research will need to be done to get complete proteins

For me, when I consume artificial sweeteners I get horrible cravings and I want to eat everything in sight. About a year ago I pretty much gave them up (I sometimes have Stevia). I have not had any intense cravings since and maintaining my weight loss has been a breeze. Others do not seem to be affected like me. We are all different. But when people complain about regain or cravings I do recommending cutting back on artificial sweeteners.

I've noticed that some products that are sugar free still has a good amount of calories in them. I decided to just have the regular stuff but in really small amounts or none at all. For sweeteners I still use truvia or agave.

There are different kinds of vegans from what I read, from those that give up on beef, but still eat poultry, fish & dairy, all the way to those that give up on all of that. There is a guy that started a vegetarian forum, but you have to type it in to find the group. It's not listed on the drop down menu.

People who still eat poultry, fish, and dairy aren't vegans.  Vegans are people who avoid all animal products - no dairy, eggs, flesh, honey, etc.

There are several types of vegetarians like Lacto vegetarian- doesn't eat eggs but eats dairy products. Ovo-vegetarian- doesn't eat meat or dairy products but eats eggs. Lacto-ovo-vegetarians-Doesn't eat beef, pork, fish, shellfish, or any animal flesh of any kind, but eats eggs & dairy products. Flexitarian/semi-vegetarian- eats mostly a vegetarian diet but occasionally eats meat. Pescatarian- abstains from all meat and animal flesh with the exception of fish.

So there are different classes of vegetarians, but hell it's a lot to keep track of. I was looking into this b4 wls as another way to a healthier lifestyle., but I still like meat. LOL

Vegetarians, yes, there are different types.  Vegan is vegan, though.  :)

Vegans don't eat any animal products.  Some vegetarians eat eggs and dairy (ovo-lacto vegetarians) and some just eat dairy (lacto vegetarians) but they are not vegan.  And people that eat poultry and/or fish are not vegetarian at all.
