Just got home from the hospital

Gas pains are killing me, I couldn't sleep at the hospital at all last night. Cold water and popsicles cause pain. How do you get in you protein at this early stage?

Walk, walk, walk.  That will help with the gas.  Try other temperatures of drinks.

Right now, your main goal should be hydration.  Don't worry so much about the protein, it can come in a few more days.  Experiment with drinks.  Crystal light might work better than water.  Warm/hot might work better than cold.  Etc.

Gas-X strips are also recommended.  I bought them but never used them.

Walk for the gas pains and use a heating pad on any areas where it's "settling" in.  Don't even worry about protein at this stage...focus on your fluids.  That is the most important thing right now.  The protein will come.

It's more important to get in the fluids.  Try herbal teas or water at room temperature.  Things that are cold can be painful right after surgery.

You don't! You just worry about fluids. Try them lukewarm, and if you can't tolerate regular water (I couldn't) try some flavored water. Walk walk walk and sip sip sip. It gets better!

You have received a lot of good information.  Please listen.  I am a month out and was sleeved on Sept. 9th.  I was in agony from the gas and stomach sutures and questioned my sanity.  I was so upset with myself for getting this surgery. I just wanted to put my stomach back together.  Also I have absolutely zero tolerance to pain. Eventually the pain stopped, the problems of the full liquids and clear liquids faded and became just a memory.  You will be fine. Hang in there.  Sip and walk, take the Gas-X...I took some Tylenol.

I agree with everyone that warm works better than cold. I like the unjury chicken . It is similar to chicken bullion flavor. It has 20 grams of protein. I also did the premier protein shake. Good luck. It will get better with time. Just make you. r fluid intake a priority. Your protein intake will increase slowly over the next few weeks.
