Not sure if I am jumping the gun but I am suspecting I am lactose intolerant Everything is new at 4 weeks post sleeve so I am not sure if the gas and bloating I am getting after having anything with milk is just a coincidence. I do not drink milk out of a glass I just add it to shakes and recently to decaf coffee.  Anyone become lactose intolerant after surgery? when did you notice it?

5 years of waiting and I finally have my sleeve!!!!

You could try substituting unsweetened almond milk for a week or so to see if the issue goes away. I use unsweetened vanilla almond milk in my shakes and it cuts the amount of fat and calories in the shake and tastes good. I really can't tell the difference in taste in my shakes made with almond milk from the ones i used to make witth cow milk.

I noticed it pretty early, and I, too, am only sensitive to things made with straight milk.  Once you cook it, though, no problems.  All other dairy is fine, too. Strange, isn't it?  I've resorted to half & half or heavy cream to substitute milk, or almond milk sometimes (but it grosses hubs out).

I immediately had issues with milk and protein powders that had too much lactose. I'm fine with yogurt, cheese, etc, though.

I was drinking a protein shake that I made with 1 cup of milk and 1 cup of water. It was really bothering my stomach. I noticed that pretty much immediately but I first chalked it up to post-op adjustments, etc. By the 2-month mark though, I thought, "This ain't right." So I started making my shakes with water only. HUGE difference.

It's hard, because I love milk! Now and then I resort to drinking 1/4 cup for the taste and resolve to suck it up and deal with the twinges and slight pain it gives me. I am only having trouble with milk: I can have cheese and yogourt without any problem at all. Odd huh? But from what I read here on the forums, quite common to see.

I became intolerant right after surgery. Had to switch to Lactose free milk. Almond milk will send me running, too. Pun intended.

Probiotic!!!!!

Your tummy is in need of the good bacteria. After surgery, you are completely cleaned out! Hence you cannot handle lactose anymore. A few weeks on a probiotic and you will be straight. Trust me... I could not handle milk or protein shakes right after surgery until my surgeon and some helpful individuals on this site CLUED ME IN!!!

At 11 months out, I rarely take a probiotic now and can have milk with no problem.
