I'm about 6 weeks post op and I was wondering how long it was until you guys had salad and raw veggies..I really miss them lol

P.S. I was suppose to go to the nutritionist next week, but I'm having insurance issues....

For me, it was about 6 months, but everyone is different.  At that time, the most I could handle was about an ounce.  I was told to start with cucumbers, which were easier to digest than lettuce or carrots.  I'm 12 months out, and eat salad regularly - actually, can tolerate any raw vegetable or fruit.  It will be worth the wait!  Best of luck.

My surgery was in December, my first salad was on Valentine's Day at dinner. So 2 months. But it was a very small amount, just 2 bites, and I ate it very slowly.

My plan didn't allow raw veggies until six months post-op.

I'm just about 7 months out and I just started having both salad and raw veggies about a week or so ago .. and only about 1 to 2 oz at a time... :-)

My doc's office has us wait until 3 months out before trying raw, but it will depend on each person individually.  I was told that there was always the possibility that my body wouldn't want me to have raw at that time and I would just have to play it by ear!!  Good luck!! :)

Trust the Process!! :)

I started incorporating them once I hit my forever diet, which was 6 weeks out.  Very small amounts thought, because I didn't have room in my stomach for those things if I wanted to get my protein in.  (And my plan calls for only 3 meals a day.)

Thanks for all your input and advice. From what I read it looks like it's going to be a lot longer then I thought for raw veggies, but I think I'll survive. Lol

I'm allowed to eat them, but I just don't have room.

I miss them too, but I just tell myself it's winter! Nothing really special is in season right now. Now by spring I really hope I can have some salad greens from my garden!
