Am I done losing at 6 months out?

So this question may irritate some people, but I'm going to ask anyway. I had surgery on 5/14/14 @~232lbs, so I'm about a week shy of being 6 months out. Up until a little over 2 weeks ago, I was losing about 2.5lbs a week on average, I'm down to 161.2, 110lbs lost total, including about 40lbs preop. I've only lost 1.6lbs over the last 2.5 weeks. I'm not someone who's experienced stalls through this process, only maybe 2 one-week 'stalls' when I was less than 3 months out. I'm pretty diligent about what I eat, Always get at least 60g protein, usually closer to 70g, less than 40g carbs, eat about 500-700 calories a day, I drink loads of water, I exercise (weights and cardio) 4x a week...but the loss has suddenly slowed to a complete crawl. Considering I didn't have a large amount to lose by the time I had surgery, part of me thinks maybe this is it, and maybe I really have to kick up the exercise to lose the last 15-20lbs I'd like to lose, but beacuse I was losing 2.5lbs/week up until just 2 or 3 weeks ago, the other part of me thinks maybe this is just a stall. Anybody out there have a stall this close to goal? Could the loss just pick back up again if I continue doing what I've been doing? Or from your experiences, could this just be where I end up? BTW, my 'goal weight' has become less and less important the closer I get. I'm ok with gaining muscle from lifting, but I'd expect my body to continue getting smaller, which hasn't happened in a while. I'm more focused on getting strong/into great shape and single digit size clothes as a goal, rather than a number on a scale. Like i said, I feel like i'm being trivial and this may annoy some people, but I'm willing to take the risk to see if others have experienced this and have any insight. Thanks!

I to was very lucky with stalls ..  but that last bit was harder ... and the last lbs took me 3 weeks alone lol... it's probably just a stall... .. maybe just change up your exercise program add something different ... best of luck to you ... you have done great !!!! :-)

With exercising 4 times a week I would be shooting for 800 calories a day and at LEAST 80 grams of program a day.  I would get to 800 calories a day by adding in some healthy fats ie. avocado, olives, nuts, etc.

It's totally natural that the weight loss is going to slow down now.  The last few months I was lucky to lose 1-1.5 pounds a week.  The closer you get to goal the slower and slower the losing gets.

Kicking up the exercise isn't going to help you lose faster, it may actually make you stall out more.  Any time you increase activity level your body reacts by hanging onto tons of water.

Be patient...you will get there.

It really slows down at the end.  I lost 95 lbs in the first 6 months.  The next 5 took a month.  The last 5 took nearly 3 months.  I'm not too worried about the 5 more to get me to the # goal.  I'm very happy with where I am at size and strength wise.

I would also recommend adding in some more fats.  I notice that even though I am eating more these days I hasn't affected my weight -- I am eating mostly protein and fats though.  I did not want to diet super hard to get to the end.  I wanted it to be very sustainable.  The last 10 lbs probably took longer because of that, but I haven't been struggling with maintaining my plan really at all (other than the carb monster).

Its funny you and Tracy both mentioned fats, I use MFP religiously and it always yells at me about my fat intake, even though most of what I eat is either naturally lower in fat or it's something I buy the 'reduced/non fat' version of. I think maybe I need to take a more mindful look at my breakdown on MFP, so I'm not getting scared away from fats unnecessarily. Thanks for the tip:)

the less of you that there is the less there is to burn calories

good fat is needed or your shin will get dry and hair brittle , olive oil is great and most liquid fats , coconut oil is not a good choice it is a saturated fat

You're really only done losing when you want to be.  It might take more effort as you get closer to your goal, but you can get there if you eat appropriately.
