No, all they said was if my test came back ok I'd be alright. I have never took anything for either. I have never felt the need to seek medication for anything like these diagnosis. I feel 100% fine....that's why I m so shocked!

I find it weird  you have a depressive disorder and not even suspect it???    I would get a 2nd opinion  too especially if your chances of surgery are threatened.

I have been treated for depression for many years and am on several medications. It did not seem to play into my surgery at all, I'm now crushing my meds to take them and it hasn't been a problem, no one even mentioned it. Good luck!!

I have panic disorder and depression and take meds for both. I too worry about whether or not this will come into play when it comes time for me to do everything for surgery. I do agree with others though that they would give you this diagnosis with you not even suspecting you have any issues at all. Either the provider is clueless (which definitely happens) or maybe you just don't see those things in yourself? Either way I'd get a second opinion if you can.

1) I second what everyone says about a second opinion re: the diagnosis.

2) I have anxiety disorders and am bipolar 2 and that did not factor into my approval at all.

Thanks everyone. I am going to talk to my Doctor on Thursday and see what he says. I have NEVER had ANY issues. This is the first time I have ever seen a Psychiatrist.

Never once have I ever seen my PCP or anyone else for any kind of anxiety or mood problem's. I am going to let him know this too.

I don't know if I had an abnormal psych eval or if this is the way it's done, but she didn't really delve into anything "deep". She asked me if I knew the date, had me count backwards from 100 by the count of 7 ( 100, 93, 86, etc) asked me what various items in the room were  called (clock, lamp, etc) Total time with her was about 40 mins, she had me fill out a few medical forms and I was out the door.
