Okay folks, I am finishing day 3 of my 20 day pre-op.  I can only have 4 bariatric shakes and SF Jello and SF popsicles.  The second day I was so sick I couldn't see straight - I'm thinking major detox.  Will y'all please tell me how long it took you to feel "normal" on the pre-op?  I still feel sluggish but I have to think my body will get used to it.  I'm struggling mentally a lot but physically I feel awful and that is not helping.  12/1 needs to hurry up:)

I was better by day 5.  I drank a lot of Vitamin Water Zero...it has electrolytes and I think that helped a lot with the headaches, tired feeling, etc.  Maybe you can try some.

Good luck!

Michele

Im only had to do 2 weeks of 2 shakes and 1 lean cosiune meal a day (I could add 1/2 apple if I had a headache or low blood sugar)

I had to do this twice my surgery was postponed 2 days before surgery because I had a skin infection

it starts getting better after 3-4 days , I think it is getting carbs out of your system

if you don't feel ok in the morning call your surgeon they may be able to adjust the pre op diet

I had three weeks of a prescription shake (Optifast) and only decaf coffee/tea, broth, SF jello or SF popsicles (20 extra cals per day).

It took me until about day 4 or 5 to stop feeling sluggish and for the headaches to subside. After day 5, it was a breeze. Not a problem at all.

Hang in there. It DOES get better.

I'm on day 5 of my pre-op liquid diet.  3 shakes a day.  And I can have broth, SF jello, and SF popsicles.  I must be a complete odd ball.  Because I feel totally fine with it.  But I DID knock out carbs, caffeine, smokes, and alcohol a little over 2 months ago.  I'm certain that helped.  Hang in there.  I'm certain it will get easier for you.

I had only two days of pre-op liquids only so I can sympathize with your dilemma.  If you are a caffeine person, I would expect that it will take some time to detox and the headaches will go away.  But I had to do all liquid for three weeks after and I faced the same problem.  I got bored and had to keep mixing it up so I could concentrate on my goal:  losing weight.  That is what has gotten me through.  It has been a purely mental exercise at times.  But when get through the surgery you will eventually feel better.  ways of it affecting us.

Can you drink Isopure?  It's expensive so if you can try one. It's kind of like kool-aid.  It has a lot of protein and many don't like it.  But it was a nice treat for me.  I had some on ice and made it feel like a grown up drink. :)

My new motto is:  Nothing tastes as good as being healthy feels.

Thanks y'all. It seems better today (day 4) but I'm not gonna lie. It is rough!  I am going to try the vitamin water. Can't have the isopure water till after the surgery. I can do anything for 15 more days!
