14 days post op struggling at work
I remember having memory problems and just making simple mistakes early out. It didn't last long...maybe a week and it was gone. I was not at work during this time. To help myself I would write post it notes to make sure I didn't forget plans or jobs that I should do.
If you find that it is lasting a long time, please speak to a health professional. But hopefully you will get over it as quickly as I did.
I talked to my boss today and I am going to slow it down and do 1/2 days for the rest of the week. I am on vacation next week so plan to rest during that period. I really appreciate everyone's insight and tips and I am glad to see I am not alone with these problems. It has really be driving me crazy as I am usually very sharp and the go to person at my job for issues.
You are definitely not alone. I am only 4 weeks out and I too went to work soon after surgery. I walked around with my head in a cloud. I was fortunate that my husband and I were ridesharing that week.
I don't know what state you live in, However, in California, we have state disability and paid family leave that help you receive pay during your disability period. This is definitely the time to rest, clear your head, get acquainted with your "new stomach" and readjust your life. I'm glad you are making arrangement to take time off.

I agree with the others - take the time off. You're not doing anyone, including yourself, any services by not giving yourself the time you need to heal and recuperate.
