Qwest protein chips

Anybody else try the Quest protein chips? Saw them at the Vitamin Shoppe a couple weeks ago and the ingredient panel looked pretty favorable at 20 grams of protein at a respectable 120 calories. Only 5 grams of carbs, no sugar, and no sat. fat. They are not Lays potato chips but I would say they are better than the baked potato chips at a much better nutritional value.

Have been eating them a couple evenings for my snack when I'm running short on protein for the day and has been a nice option to replace the chips and salsa I used to devour in the evenings. The bag is similar size to the chip bags you would find in a convenience store but there are quite a few chips in the bag in comparison and I actually get a full filling from them before finishing the bag, which wouldn't be true for normal potato chips.

All that said, anybody see anything negative about these? Still feels like something I shouldn't be eating but the nutritional value appears to be comparable to eating some lean chicken or turkey.

I tried a bag. They were ok. I'm not sure I would buy them again, but I wouldn't kick Sonja out of bed for eating them.

The nutrition is better than a lot of things, but worse than others. It's a snack, and having them once in a while is ok.

I'm afraid that it would be a "gateway" snack for me. I could mindlessly eat half a bag of chips or more prior to WLS. I don't think this would be a good choice for me. However, if chips weren't one of your vices prior to surgery it might be a viable option for you.

I think that is the doubt I have in the back of my mind as well. I have always loved chips of all kinds and can easily eat a lot. I've had a few bags though and they so far have not been a problem and they really did give me a full feeling before finishing the snack size bag.

That nutritional value sounds good... sounds like a good option for a snack.  I may have to pick some up and try them myself.  Thanks for sharing!

I have tried the BBQ and they are awesome!  They are on the expensive side, but they have all the nutrition and they are something different if your tired of the same old stuff.  Because of the protein they are very filling.  Its hard to finish the bag, but that is just me.

Yes, much more expensive than standard chips for sure, but the good thing is we eat much less of them so it kind of equals out. That is one thing I have noticed with many of the foods I'm eating now. Leaner meats and healthier foods are often more expensive and concerned me before but when you are eating about a quarter of the volume, my grocery bills have actually gotten better.

I eat Simply 7 Quinoa chips sometimes, but I found they give me a bit of a tummy ache so I eat very few. They are 130 calories, 8 grams of protein, and 12 carbs for a 28 gram serving (20 chips). I usually eat 3-4 with some cheese so it's much less than that. The Quest ones seem to have better protein/carb ratio so I've been meaning to try those too. I also sometimes eat 2-4 Triscuits as part of my meal.

But be aware that some people claim that the moderation approach causes cravings for more and more carbs. I haven't experienced that thus far, but I'm constantly aware of how much and how often I have where carbs are concerned, and carbs are a 1-3 times a week treat for me.

A friend of mine tried them recently and said the flavored ones were better than just the regular ones, but they're not amazing.
