3 Years Out 12/22/14
On December 22, I'll be three years out. Overall, it's been a wonderful time. I feel that I have my life back, no longer considered diabetic and off 7 of 8 medicines! The health benefits have been the biggest success story for me. It's great to look better and fit in clothes better, but getting rid of that awful sugar swing is the best.
I'm still about 15-18 lbs short of my goal weight and that is a bit disappointing, but I'm so much stronger and healthier it feels amazing. My wife and I get up every morning and hit the gym at 5:30. It was difficult for the first month but now after 2 years we can't imagine our lives without it.
I track my food every day on myfittnesspal and wear a FitBit to track my steps. I average 12,000 during the week and sometime**** 15,000 on the weekends.
Carbs are definitely the enemy but I still try to stay under 100 grams per day. We never eat processed food anymore and eat way more veggies and lean meats than anything else.
I would encourage anyone to have this surgery and anyone that is struggling with weight gain to go back to the basics. Track your food, get some exercise every day. Eat your protein first. Stay away from the empty carbs. Eat slowly. Don't drink with your meals. Eat smaller meals more often and don't eat candy!
I hope that everyone stays committed to a healthy lifestyle and never give up on yourself.
Woo! Super awesome! It sounds like your life is infinitely better than it was 4 years ago :D
