1 week post-op appt - kinda bummed
Just had to vent a little. Went to my 1 week post-op appt today with my husband (he's on week 6 post-op). My stomach is still a bit swollen, especially at that main incision point and the PA recommended icing rather than a heating pad. My wounds are healing nicely she said.
What has me so upset is that I only lost the couple pounds I gained at the hospital. I couldn't believe it - I almost cried. Reading so many wonderful success stories here about the great weight loss most folks are experiencing, especially the first month or two after surgery, I feel like a loser - and not in a good way.
I've been living on water and Isopure for the last 8 days for Pete's sake, I expected at least a few pounds lost this first week.

You're probably retaining fluids from your IV. This is very common and nothing to be alarmed about. The weight will start to come off. Relax. You'll be fine.

Thank you. I'm trying not to be a baby about it, considering I'm only 1 week out.

Not to worry....I had the same experience...made me so mad! I thought I'd get there and dropped at least 10 pounds that first week...NOT! But when I look back...there is so much gone and it really hasn't been that long (I'm 7 weeks post-op). Hang in there and do exactly what your doctor says....you really will see results faster than you have before. Reality, however, it that if you're losing 2-3 pounds a week...you're still doing awesome, so don't put too much pressure on yourself. Best of luck!
Thanks for the kind words. I am following everything I was given (food progression chart) very closely. My husband and I both are.
