How soon can you have a type of milk with protein powder after getting the sleeve?  I am asking because it is really hard for me in the past to drink protein powder mixed with water.  Just isn't the same ya know.  What kind of milk to use?

It really depends on your surgeon's protocol. Mine starts all of us on full liquids the day after surgery. As to what kind of milk -- it depends on what you need and what you can tolerate. When I was just starting out, I needed as much protein as possible and I used Kroger CarbMaster milk, which is dairy milk but higher in protein and lower in calories and carbs than regular skim milk. Later I switched to using unsweetened vanilla almond milk because I was getting enough protein but wanted even lower calories and carbs.

I had the sleeve on 12/4. I didn't start my protein drinks until about 3 days after coming home. It took me all day to finish 1 protein shake. But it got easier after a couple days. I used Almond milk for my shakes or sometimes Fat Free milk. You should ask your NUT.

I was able to drink milk the day after surgery...once I'd passed my leak test.

My plan was to be on clear liquids for a week (no protein goals that week).

the next week was when I started milk.

every plan is different.  check with your surgeon/NUT.

Milk was allowed but I had major and new issues with lactose post op, so I drank (and continue to drink) unsweetened almond milk.

My surgeon  put me on full  liquids the  day after I came home. He recommended a low carb shake that has at least 20 gms of protein  and 100-150 cal. I drink the premier protein  they have 30 gms at 160 cals. Ask your surgeon  or nutritionist

I was allowed to drink skim milk about 3 days post-op. It took my sleeve a little while to adjust (lots of weird sounds and some burping), but after a couple of days, it was fine. I'm 3 weeks post-op today, and I'm starting to feel a little bit normal again. I have found that drinking milk fills me up faster and gives me that "full" sensation that I so desire. As far as protein shakes are concerned, I recommend that  you try Premier Protein! They are delicious (for a protein shake), and I particularly love the strawberries and cream flavor. 30g of protein, 1g of sugar, and only 160 calories in just 11 oz!!! I ordered mine off of Amazon. They're a bit pricey, but SO WORTH IT!  Good luck!
