Exercise is a Four Letter Word

I haven't lost a pound in two weeks.

I'm going to have to break down and ... exercise. I downloaded the Couch to 5K app today and I'm going out jogging today.

I hate to run... I played football in high school and I was a lineman. I still think of running as punishment. I hate every step. But I'm gonna do it. Aint gonna be happy but I'm gonna do it.

When I started running I also hated it. I did it just because I knew it was good for me. Now I love it.

Give it a month. If you don't enjoy it by then, find an exercise you do enjoy. There are way more options than just running after all!  And you'll have an easier time sustaining an exercise habit you enjoy than one you loathe. Sustainability is what it's all about.

I don't need a month. I know. I hate it. I ran in high school because I played football and wrestled. We ran every practice. Football, sprints. Wrestling, distance. I hated both.

I could run for miles... just didn't like it.

Once, when I was a senior, a coach threatened me with running. We were playing this team with a huge lineman (He went on to be the center for the University of Georgia). My coach told me if he blocked me again I'd be running on Monday. I knocked the guy on his butt and sacked the quarterback.

I don't like to run. But I need to do it.

I like a lot of things I hated in high school :)

And, again, you'd be better served finding exercise you like!

True... I enjoy a lot of things too. But exercise aint one of them.

In high school I worked out five days a week and three times a week during the summer. I was pretty good at it. I benched 365 pounds by the time I graduated... and I kinda liked it... a little.

I could run miles at a time but I HATED it. Mainly because I sucked at it. I was slooooow. I started high school at 6 ft, 240 lbs. The coaches were drooling until they timed me in the 40.

I'll do it because I need to but I ain't gonna be happy about it.

I'm honestly not sure what relevance your high school experience has here? But I do know that thinking you hate something tends to be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Good luck with running, though. I hope, for your sake, that forcing your body to do something you hate ends up NOT being a recipe for failure.

I'm sure that Gwen meant to say that she hopes "that forcing your body to do something you hate DOES NOT end up being a recipe for disaster."

Please correct me if I'm wrong, Gwen.
