Can you color hair while losing your hair?

Hi, I'm 18 weeks post op tomorrow and my hair is coming out quite a lot and the gray roots are driving me crazy. Does anyone know if it will further damage my hair to put a color on? Thanks,

I have kept up with my usual color schedule without problem.  The person who colors my hair isn't concerned that color treatments will cause further damage.    Good luck!

Thank you, I think for me going gray is far more dramatic than thinning. Lol

I kept up with my color treatments at my salon.  The color actually helped to make my hair look a little thicker as it tends to plump up the hair strand.  My colorist uses a semi-permanent on me.

Nope, it won't affect a thing. Your hair is falling out because of the changes your body is going through, not because of anything you're doing to the hair itself! Dye away, especially if it makes you feel better :)

You are not losing hair because it is damaged - you are losing hair because the growth cycle has rebooted, and there are oodles of brand new hairs pushing the old ones out (google telogen effluvium).

So, that being said - YES!  Color your hair and add some layers as well. The makeover will make you feel wonderful as your changes are starting to show.
