Husband and I have surgery dates....

He is November 2nd, I am December 7th. I just can't get excited until the insurance officially approves it.

My husband starts his pre-op diet October 19th and has to lose 6 pounds by 10/26. I have to lose 4 pounds by 12/2. I think I'm self-sabotaging, as I have been eating like crap since the physician supervised diet ended and we found out how much more we were required to lose. I've probably gained 2 pounds since then. :-( I am really bad at self-sabotage. This is the last hurdle and I can't seem to get myself over it.

Already tried the protein powder once and it was okay, but I made it with milk and it has to be made with jus****er for the two week pre-op diet...

You can definately lose the weight. My theory is that doctor's don't want you to gain any weight that is why the weight loss is so low. If you do gain weight, your insurance will cancel you. Get serious, you want this, you can do it. No excuses. It's not a game where you can gain a little weight and hopefully lose it before. No... the truth is you gain, you don't have surgery. It is not a little sabatage, it is your life. WAKE UP! you are worth it.

I know you're right. If I don't lose the weight, the surgeon cancels the surgery and if this were to go into the next calendar year, I would have to start everything over again.

Each year insurance companies change what they cover and your deductible. Your insurance company may not cover the surgery next year.

Congratulations! My husband had his last Nov 4th and mine was done 5 weeks later on 12/9 last year. So smart that you're both getting the procedure. Now the tricky part, you can either support and help each other....or sabotage each other.

My husband and I have both lost over 100 lbs so far, so you and yours can do this!

Surgery Date: 12/9/14 - Highest Weight: 349 - Surgery Weight: 305 - Current Weight: 137
Goal reached in 13 months - 212 total pounds lost including pre-op
(M1: -20) (M2: -18) (M3: -11) (M4: -11) (M5: -14) (M6: -1) (M7: -18) (M8: -7) (M9: -15)

(M10: -13) (M11: -7) (M12: -10) (M13: -10) (M14 -6) (M15: -7) - 168 lbs lost post-op

Thank you for the encouragement! I assume you did fine having the surgery 5 weeks apart? We have a 2 1/2 year old so our concern was making sure one of us could always lift him. The surgeon thinks we are on the right track with that.
