16 days post-op and feeling sick.

Like the subject line says, everything I attempt to eat (i'm on pureed foods) or drink today makes me feel so gassy and nauseous. Every sip of a protein shake brings on a belch.

Any ideas?

Try some gas x and make sure you're drinking enough water!

Thanks! I drink water all day and I still don't feel like I drink enough. Ugh.

acid can cause nausea so you check with your surgeon.

Absolutely - you should be taking a PPI - talk to your doctor first, though.

Could you be lactose intolerant?  It's pretty common after surgery.  Look at your protein powder label.  If it has whey concentrate, it has lactose.  Use a whey isolate only, they are 99% lactose free.  Try mixing it with almond milk, cashew milk, or soy milk.  Most lactose intolerant peeps can eat cheese and Greek yogurt.  The lactose is used up in the process of making them.  Try going lactose free for a week and see if you improve.

I just remember the doctor telling us to slip really slowly, don't use straws and do not gulp. I hope this helps.

P.S. I was drinking Premier Chocolate shakes - from costco... and still do.
