7 weeks post op today: pain?

Hey all! Today, I am officially 7 weeks post-op and down another 30 pounds! Hurray! I had a pretty rough recovery (in my opinion). I never had any surgery before and felt like I was in a ton of pain. Around 4 weeks, it finally began to lessen.

Now, at 7 weeks, I still feel some pain. Sometimes is ok, sometimes it is really achy. I still feel pain in both sides (upper rib) and occasionally around my incisions. The biggest thing is back pain! Ugh! My back is so sore, from midback down to my lower back - straight down the middle. It is not excruciating, but I do feel very exhausted and sore at the end of the day. I can't wait for this to stop and truly hope it does soon.

Just curious as to whether or not anyone else is or has dealt with this type of thing?

I still live in fear of a leak!

For me, a lot of the body pain at this point was due to inability to sleep like normal. And then, as my body shape changed, sleeping continued to be weird!

I wonder if that could be part of my problem too. I am able to lay on my stomach at this point, but I am still wary and definitely careful. Still sore. It's weird how the main issue is my back and sides.

It makes sense with where muscles from those areas are connected.

For me, even when I could start sleeping on my stomach again, my stomach was a different size/shape which meant that my spine was in a different alignment. It's pretty crazy!

I had serious back pain as well. It is from the changes in the way that we are now using our muscles. The muscles are in a different position than what they were before which is changing the way that your spine is aligned. It sucks! I don't have back pain anymore. I probably haven't had any in the last 3 to 4 months. Unfortunately my tailbone is a totally different story. Everyday feels like I broke that sucker.

A year ago when I was close to goal my tailbone was killing me too, but now it is fine. Sorry, but I don't remember how long that lasted (I just remember thinking that the car seats which used to be comfortable suddenly weren't).

I sure hope that this tailbone pain goes away. A 3-4 hour drive really sucks now.
