Hello everyone. This is my first time here and I'm very excited to be a part of this group! I had a starting weight of 207 and my BMI was around 36. I have high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and pre diabetic. I decided to have VSG to help with these health problems and because I have struggled with my weight my whole life, gain, lose, gain, lose, the dreaded yo-yo. I had my surgery and am 10 days post op. I have only lost 7 pounds! I was expecting more loss I guess so I am disappointed. Any words of wisdom for me?

As long as you're following your surgeon's rules, don't worry! Think about putting the scale away for a little while. It's impossible to eat as little as you're eating and not lose weight. Give your body time to catch up and heal and it'll happen.

Chances are you came home from the hospital weighing more than when you went it. Many of us experience a gain because of all the fluids they pump into you for surgery and after. So it's entirely possible you've lost more than 7 pounds since you came home. Even if not, 7 pounds in 10 days?! When's the last time you were able to do that? Great job, and keep on keeping on!

Everybody loses at a different pace. You are also on the lower BMI end, weight will definitely come off slower for you. Just keep following the plan. A little walking may help kickstart the weightloss again. Best of luck!

Edited to add: I've been hanging around at 325 for a week and suddenly today I lost 2 lbs. Try weighing weekly vs daily, because daily will drive you nuts. I am also going to start weekly weigh-ins, because it's too frustrating not to see the scale move .

I was pretty close to your size when I started the process. My weight loss stats are on my signature.

words of wisdom: Put away the scale and just focus on healing. Once you can move around and eat solid food THEN think about bringing it back out.

If you fall down you just have to get back up.

7 pounds in 10 days is rapid weight loss, especially with such a low BMI for surgery. That's actually fantastic progress.

It is frustrating for me too, but I must remember WLS is like a marathon versus a sprint. And, like a marathon, it takes a long time, requires consistency, and has ups and downs. The sleeve makes it a million times easier, at least for me, but the weight still takes its time as needed.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

I started at 217.8 and I'm down to 195.5. I will be 8 weeks on Tuesday. Slower than some, but stick to it and it will come off.
