I am almost 6 weeks post op and getting tired of eating the same things over and over! Does anyone have any recipe suggestions that I could eat even though I'm not too far out?? All I really eat now is tuna applesauce and peaches! I like most food except for fish which I hate! So any recipes that are good would be greatly appreciated!

It depends what stage you are at. I'm assuming that you are on pureed foods. If so, than basically anything you make you can puree. My favourites during that stage were pureed chicken with Swiss Chalet Sauce on top and pureed homemade meat sauce.

For the chicken, I put chunks of chicken breast in the crock pot with some diced onions, a can of cream of mushroom and top it up with chicken stock (low fat, low sodium) or water until all of the chicken is covered. Cook on high for four hours. The chicken comes out almost falling apart and really tender. Then just puree the chicken in a blender (I used my kitchenaid bullet) with a bit of the sauce to get it going, than after you measure out your portion, top with a tablespoon or two of prepared Chalet Sauce from the package (it has no sugar and no fat and was fairly low cal so it fit in my plan but check with yours first). It tasted just like Swiss Chalet to me, just didn't have the mouth feel.

Same for the meat sauce, brown your beef or turkey, add it to the crock pot with your tomatoes and spices and then let it cook out in the crock pot.

I recommend pureeing your food ahead of when you will eat it (actually pureeing stuff put me off eating it) and then just refrigerate until ready to eat, portion it out and microwave.

You could also experiment with things that are almost pureed in texture in their original form, like the filling of mushrooms neptune for example.

I've become pretty handy in the kitchen since surgery (although I wasn't a novice before) and have found that in experimenting with my food, I've come out with more successes than failures. I've also had a lot of luck with adapting recipes that suit other diets, for example, we are supposed to follow high protein, low carb, low fat, low to no sugar diets. There are few websites that address all aspects of this diet. So, I've searched many high protein sites and adapted their recipes, same with low carb and diabetes recipes.

At 6 weeks out, you probably, unfortunately are going to be really bored with your food choices, I was, not just because I was limited in what I could eat but that my clinic recommended that I only try one new thing a day to see how it sat in my pouch, it took a while to integrate more of a variety in my diet and some items I didn't even get to add until the regular food phase. I often found myself surfing the web and trying to get familiar with my new lifestyle and pick up any pointers and tips that I could use later. This helped get ideas, so I didn't get to board with my food and find ways and suggestions of addressing my cravings so that they could fit my new lifestyle.

Here is a list of some of the sites I visit for inspiration:

Also, there are quite a few youtubers who do mini recipe shows for bariatric eating.
Hope these help!
