I am approaching 3 weeks since my gallbladder removal surgery. As with my RNY my surgeon closed my wounds with some sort of glue. I am totally healed on the outside now, and have managed to get most of that sticky residue off.

My question is, How the H to I get it ALL off? I am having a mild reaction to it now. I am so itchy, it drives me mad! It's on my biggest incision, which was the longest to heal. I am just hoping some of you may have an idea for me? I am finally at the point where I can confidently "scrub" my incision sites..... HELP!!!!!

The reconstruction guys said to start with rubbing alcohol very delicately. It worked fine for me! (I thought about goo be gone, but didn't want to deal with scrubbing again to get the thick feel of it off my skin!)

Thanks girls!!! I used the rubbing alcohol. It was handy, and actually had a soothing touch to it. I am still itchy, but most of the sticky stuff is off now. I really feel I am experiencing a wee bit of an allergic reaction. I've been dealing with this since a few days out, but am on the mend now!

I have found cheap nail polish remover to be the best at getting adhesive off skin.  That's what I tell all my patients to use too.  I stock medical  adhesive remover in my clinic that contains baby oil, but it doesn't work as well.
