Protein Shakes
Many of us aim for 100 grams of protein a day and some of us just count the protein in shakes 'cause we're lazy. lol
Sytrax Nectar is still using whey protein isolate as their first ingredient, there are a few others but I don't remember them. If you want to go with pure whey protein isolate, take a look at JayRobb whey. He also makes an egg based protein, so again, read the labels looking for whey protein isolate and the carb count for each scoop. You might check out Vitalady.com for her protein samples.

I think the good ones range from 0 to 3 carbs per scoop. You want to look for whey protein isolate as the first ingredient.

These days I am using Syntrax Matrix and Nectars. The Matrix is high carb so you should stick to the nectars early out. Our plan specified 100% Whey isolate in the beginning. It is usually about 20g of protein a scoop. I do 1.5 scoop for my morning decaf protein coffee (but that is for 2 large cups) and 1.5 scoop for my after dinner shake but .5 scoop for my morning and afternoon drinks that I make with a tube of crystal light, protein and 40 oz of water.
I strongly suggest getting samples. Vitalady has them as does Syntrax and Unjury. Your taste will likely change after surgery and things that are good now, may not be later. I would also get some kind of unflavored to have on hand which you can add to food if the shakes are doing well for you. That sometimes happens in the beginning. I also like the Unjury chicken soup. I don't use it much anymore but it was great when everything else tasted too sweet.
