I decided to give you folks another try - And I wanted to say Thank you
The firs time I posted here, I was not well received. Even though this is a light weight board, I received a lot of criticism for choosing to have DS surgery. However, a few of you did reach out to me off-line an apologized for those who were less then friendly. With that said, here is my update. I had surgery on May 17, 2012 and as I approach my 6 month surgiversary this weekend I am down 62lbs! HW 208, SW 206, CW 146lbs!
This journey has not been without obstacles, this has been a journey from hell in the beginning and I still have a fear of foods. Never want to eat something that gives me the dreaded, paralyzing gas pains at work, or when I fly (I travel a lot for work). I eat like a bird at business meetings and have come up with every excuse as to why I will only eat a certain amount or certain things.
Thanks goodness the "bathroom" issues I have read here have not plagued me, and I have been able to keep that under control, and have found creative ways to disguise the odors when in a public facility.
The best part of all of this has been the transformation. I was not that big to begin with, I never wore over a size 14, so I was not expecting how much my body would change. I wear a sz 6 or 8 now, my thighs don't touch when I walk. Everyone gushes over how fantastic and healthy I look. I can stop buying clothes - as literally NOTHING in my closet fits any more. So, now I am starting to enjoy this ride, although there are still a few bumps to get over. I have an epi-gastric hernia which will need to be repaired and i am NOT looking forward to that. And I wonder how much longer my body will continue to shrink and morph (I have no boobs left!), before I settle at a weight I'm comfortable at.
Having this sight to peer into has been a great help, when my hair starting falling out, when I ate and apple and puked, in the beginning to get a variety of ideas on what to eat. So I thank you all.
Sorry you didn't feel welcome in the beginning. We must have been having a bad day Even the friendliest board on OH can have a bad day from time to time. Glad you came back.
Congrats on your successes. It is a great journey although like any adventure, not without bumps in the road. Hopefully you will continue to come to grips with your demons. Welcome back.

I totally understand what you are saying. I am new to OH myself, and the things that some people post are "less than encouraging". In fact I told my husband I should avoid it all together. However, since I am electing to not tell many people about my surgery, I want some form of support, and this seems to be the best one I have found. Really glad your surgery went well. I am scheduled for RNY on 12/13, but am contemplating changing that to a DS. Anyway, please keep us posted on your progress, sounds like you are doing great!
I've been upset by your post all day.
I'm very sorry if someone treated you badly on our LW board. Those of us who post everyday take great Pride in our LW board being a friendly safe place for posters of every type of WLS. I'm glad you decided to come back and give us another chance.
You have done a wonderful job since your surgery...congrats!

God is walking with me every step of the way. Because of HIM this is possible!!

This is the best board ever....drama free usually and super helpful. We tend to not judge.....so many on here have been helpful and I have learned a lot. I read a lot on other boards but rarely post as one never knows what will happen. Rarely does anything like that happen here. Good luck on your journey....

Hi and welcome back!! I'm sorry you found it so unfriendly your first trip here. Sounds like you made the right choice and are doing great with your DS, grats! I have found everyone very helpful here with my journey not sure I would know what to do without them. I also chose not to tell many people about my WLS seems like to many people are always trying to talk you out of it. :( I hope you continue to come back and post. :)
