Hi all,

Just trying to get liquids in. I picked up some GHP food while I was out at the doctors before surgery but everything I try to drink seems so sweet I can't get it down. I've been doing mostly water for 2 and a half days, today I am trying flavored water along with water. I have some gelatin I made that is also very sweet but trying to eat some to get some protein in. I'm hoping once I get back home it will all get a bit easy to come up with some things that aren't so sweet. Did you all have this problem right after surgery?

This is a typical response.  If you think back to the diet beverages you drank before, you probably remember that they were too sweet also.  Try the chicken broth packets.  I think they are a Nectar product.  To blunt flavors, make the beverages are cold as possible.  This is a short-term problem, but a nasty one.  Best of luck to you.  Stay with your program.

I did not worry about protein at first. I just sipped water. I found that my sleeve really liked warm herbal tea, or no sugar added popsicles. Another favorite was sobe 0 in the fugi apple pear flavor. Cut things with a little water to dull the sweetness. It gets easier! I still can't drink things like crystal light without making faces at the sweetness.

I do remember everything being super sweet s/p surgery and for about 4 to 6  months post op.  It does get better.  For the 1st week I just concentrated on clears and added protein week 2.  Good luck to you :)

I didn't do sweet or cold very well.  Warm tea, unjury chicken soup, protein decaf coffee all were ok.

I used diet cranberry juice but I had to cut it with water...like 1/2 water and 1/2 juice.

I was alot like Price, I still do better with liquids that are room temp or warm. Broth was a standard at first and decaf constant comment tea. Sugar free hot chocolate, half pack per cup of milk, it was too strong at first.

Had to dilute crystal light. Everything tasted strong. Room temp water with a squeeze of lemon or lime and just a sprinkle of stevia.

Good luck and keep experimenting.

Hey,

Thanks for the hints. Most of what I've been drinking is room temp drinks mostly jus****er or flavored water. I have some chicken soup broth from GHP I've been drinking that for lunch and your right its all very strong tasting. I guess I will just keep poking the water to me and I'm sure I can work on protein next week. I never gave diet juices a thought that might work too.

Thanks again,

Trish
