I am ten weeks out and have been at a stall for 3-4 weeks. It is so frustrating! I am just beginning to think the surgery didn't work for me. I had RNY 12-31-14 at Fayetteville, Ar. I have been getting my protein in and my water. Any ideas? My surgery day weight was 247. I am currently at 222.

Just keep plugging along.  I have stalled a lot so far in my journey.  I'm 4 months out.  I have now been at the same weight for 3 weeks.  Just keep drinking your water, getting in your protein and stay away from carbs.  I tend to stall for 3 weeks then lose for a week, then stall for 3 weeks... :/  It is very frustrating, but I keep telling myself it isn't a sprint. (Doesn't help a lot of days, like today)...

1)  take your measurements monthly, you may be losing inches, not pounds right now.

2)  hid the scale.  weight once a month only!!!

3)  how much protein are you doing?  By 10 weeks, you should be close to 100g of good protein.

4)  follow your plan to a T.  Post on miles and menus.  Use a tracker to see what you really are taking in.

5)  if you are doing #4, then each day, instead of being excited about what the scale says (which you have no control over), be excited about what you have done to make the rest of your life healthier and better.  That you do have control over.

6)  Keep on keeping on.  It is the rest of your life, not a race.  it will happen as long as you are true to yourself and working your plan.

I don't mean to hijack your post Thunderstruck, but I'm just curious....

Price S. - my PA said to not go over 80 g of protein cuz you may gain. What are your thoughts, experiences. I'm confused.

I have had to keep my protein between 130 and 150g to keep my level where it needed to be.  I never gained while I was in the losing phase, in fact, I never even stalled.  Where I saw a difference in my losing was with carbs.  I could eat the same calories with carbs and not lose, without carbs, I kept losing.  Even now at 4+yrs, I keep my protein over 100.

Thank you, Price. I haven't had my first blood work since surgery yet, so I don't know my levels. What is your max carb number?

Thunder, That seems like a kinda long time to stall.  I'd post more info on a days worth of food intake and be honest about everything you take in and get a critique from some of the vets on your daily diet.  You are in prime loser time, you really don't want to waste this if its something you can do about it...

Good luck!

Hi Thunderstruck. I'm at 10 weeks and have been stuck for nearly two. Did your stall break? When?

Yes, at about 4 1/2 weeks it broke. I am down to 215. I saw my dr. last week. I am at 33% wt loss and they were only expecting 30%. She was pleased with it and so was the nutritionist. I am meeting my protein requirement easily, but I still struggle with water. I have been frustrated with the slow loss. I had RNY on Dec.31, 2015 in the states. I have friends that had the sleeve in Mexico and are losing twice as much. Just a bit jealous. lol

I'm doing well with my protein too, but like you, am struggling with the water. I've had to set a reminder every 30 minutes to drink, drink, drink. My nutrtionist and my nurse practioner are telling me I'm doing well. When they gave us a new tummy they didn't give us anymore patience.
