What's going on?

Hi guys!!  I have a question for you, as some of you may know I am a little over 5 months out, I had RNY surgery on 24 March 2015.  So, here it is....  I have done pretty good or at least I'm happy with my weight loss so far, I lost 26lbs before surgery, 17lbs from 24March - 24April, 9lbs 24April - 24May, 6.7lbs 24May - 24June , 10.1 24June - 24July but from 24July - 24Aug I only lost 3lbs..  Could my body already be slowing down or worse stopping with the weight loss?  I am so scared because even though my original goal was 140 I actually wanted to get down to about 130lbs or even a little lower so if/when I have bounce back it wouldn't hurt me too much, that puts me in the range of still needing to lose between 20 - 30is pounds!  I have tried to not let this worry me but only 3lbs in a month when I'm only eating around 550-750 calories a day is just plain sad!  I appreciate all the feedback I can get but please be gentle!! :)  Hope you are all having a wonderful week!!!!!

Melissa

I don't have any answers for you.  My stats are similar to your stats and I am interested in the replies you get.   I was hoping to slide into home plate in the honeymoon period.  Are you exercising?  I lost 28 pounds in the two months pre-surgery, so I was not expecting a huge loss on month 1.  I was very happy with a 16 pound loss. Then I was hoping for 8-10 pounds per month until goal weight.

Thanks for your reply.  I guess while you were replying to me I was also adding a reply to let everyone know about my exercising and eating habits. I'm not ungrateful for the loss I have had, I just hope it isn't the end of the ropes for me.  I watched my sister and husband both breeze right through their weight loss after RNY and I don't understand why I am having to work that much harder than they did.  Both of them have done GREAT and are now 8 and 7 yrs out.  My sister does have to watch what she eats now that she is so far out and she walks everywhere but fortunately she also doesn't have my medical issues.  I was diagnosed with a rare disease called Intracranial Hypertention or PseudoTumor Cerebri and Lupus, so my head gives me major pain if I exert myself too much or if I get tired or too hot or if the light is too bright, so my exercising is way less than most but I definately track what I eat and make sure I don't screw up that way!  Good Luck with your weight loss!!

Lightweights lose slower than people with more to lose ... but proportionately its supposed be the same .  Never felt like I was really losing though until I tried on clothes and realized I'd dropped sizes .  The good news is you'll keep losing slowly for several years ... at least i did .  When i work on the mental issues / emotional pain frustration and resentment that I used to medicate with excess food - in other words when I change my life to a happier one .. I overeat less and drop a little more weight.

There are many ways to skin this cat ( don't beat me up Kitty !)

Oh yes and let me also state that I do get between 75-85 proteins, stay low carb and low, low sugar daily.  I track all my food on MFP but I will say my exercising has gone down quite a bit since we are 1 in monsoon season and 2 I have a rare disease that causes really bad head pain if I exert mysef too much. On the days that my head isn't so bad to exercise and weather permits, I do a 3mile an hour walk but usually once I do that I am down for a least a week in pain but if I'm really lucky then I can walk 2 maybe 3 times in the week before my head explodes! I do try to do different things though like every time I go to the bathroom at work I walk the whole building to get there and then reverse it to get back to my office (which is actually right across the hall from the bathroom). I also make it a point if I have to go to another office to walk past that office the first go round and come back to it (my building is a big square) and then when I leave the other office i do it again to get back to my office.  I also try to use bands to strengthen my arms or legs.  Anyways I think you get what I'm saying.  Again thank you in advance for your help!!!

I live in Southern AZ and believe me I am not complaining about the rain we desperately need it!! You can always tell an Arizonan (I'm not really from here but I've lived here since 1988 so It's home now) from folks from a state that gets rain.....   They use umbrella's and we lift our faces to the sky and smile as we slowly walk to our car! LOL

I really think you will continue losing without too much difficulty at least through your year surgiversary.  I't normal to have little slowdowns but then it picks back up.  My goal was 150 and I just kept slowly losing after I hit that.  Just keep to the plan.

Thank you for your response Karen! I hope you're right.  I will just plug away and do what needs to be done and be thankful for every pound lost. Again thank you for your response.

hi there,

i think you are in a stall.  in the month of june i lost only 5 pounds and for 3 weeks of that i lost nothing.  i did lose 2 pants size that month though.  make sure you are doing monthly measurements so when you do not see it on the scale you will see it on your measurements.  Once i got past june has been moving right along.  but we all are going to have stalls so just be ok with it and stick to plan.

RNY  best thing i ever did for myself
