Ringing in another dietician visit

Nov 28, 2011

I suppose today went well at the dietician. I've lost 17 lbs. on my Aetna required pre-op diet. I got the impression that she thought that was too much. Actually, it was more like she thought I was doing too well on my diet and I needed to make sure that I don't. I don't get that. So what if I diet well for 3 whole months? I've done that before. I've lost 105 lbs. on WW before and you can see how long that lasted. Not long at all. Anyway, the visit went well, overall, and we talked about coping with the holidays. I told her how I probably didn't eat enough over Thanksgiving because I just didn't feel like I knew what to eat. (Remember, I'm pre-surg. so I can physically eat anything.) We discussed having a plan and being in control of my eating vs. winging it and letting others dictate my eating. You know, Aunt Susie wants you to have her delicious pumpkin pie, and you have to have Granny's gravy, and don't forget to try the new sweet potato recipe.....y'all know how it goes. So we came up with a few plans of attack for Christmas, which will naturally entail more gatherings centered around food. I will say that during my visit home over Thanksgiving I did feel that I did one thing right. When I made plans to meet with a former boss, I met him at his office vs. letting him take me out to dinner or for drinks. I just need to do more planning like that in the future. Seems like all social occasions center around food and that really needs to change for me. Not that I can dictate what everyone else does, but I can certainly try to steer everyone towards less food oriented gossip sessions. We'll see how it goes, anyway.

In other news, my 17 lbs. weight loss has had one fantastic side effect, other than some loosening of the waist band. I can wear my wedding and engagement rings again! I'm so happy about that. I don't think I've worn them since 2007. I refused to have them resized yet again just because I'm getting fatter. It was so nice to actually have them slide onto my pudgy little fingers, lol! And I promise you, after surgery, I won't have any problems having them sized down!! Can you size down platinum? I don't know. If not, I see another ring in my future, just to hold them in place!

Well, it's time to go watch my Giants beat the Saints. Here's hoping anyway!!
