Surgeon Testimonial

David Schumacher, M.D.
Dr Anderson is a no nonsense doctor. She is direct and to the point. If you looking for someone who sugarcoats your experience, look elsewhere.

UPDATE 29 Jan 2010
Went to Kettering hospital for my blood work (Pre Admission testing) AGAIN. On the way out I decided to go up to Dr. Anderson's office and guess what....they told me I had to be rescheduled again for the FORTH time. That's it---I am totally fed up with Dr. Anderson and her staff.

AVOID HER and her Office Staff AT ALL COSTS!

What a joke, this is the most unorganized office I have ever seen. Do yourself a favor and see someone else.

I have decided to go with Dr. Schumacher. He's in the same network, so I might not have to start all over.

I plan to report Dr. Anderson and her staff to the BBB and whatever other organizations that may listen.

No one shoud go through this type of treatment.

I have heard some great things about Dr. Anderson, but I can't continue to go thru this agony.....

TWO WEEKS POST OP...What can I say. The switch to Dr. Schumacher was the smartest move I made. He was GREAT! His PA Jerod was GREAT and his entire staff was GREAT!!! Truly I cannot say enough good things about him and his staff. If your considering Dr. Shumacher for you WLS, don't waste a minute looking elsewhere.

Coming up on 9 Months Post-Op
on November 7, 2010 3:46 am
Well it's been almost 9 months and I feel great, and look pretty damn good if I say so myself! I'm down 116 lbs, 12 inches on my waist and don't recognize myself in the mirror. Check out the new PICS!!!!

For those that had the surgery, I think most would agree it was worth it. For those contemplating having it, DO NOT WASTE another minute thinking about it.

My only REGRET is that I wasted 1/2 my life being obese.

Now onto the second half..................................................................................................

Yaaaaaaay,

I'm no longer tethered to my JP drain, and I have advanced to bariatric soft.

Never was I so happy to eat ONE scrambled egg!

LIFE is GOOD!

Whooooo Hoooo FINALLY!!!!
on February 19, 2010 3:25 pm
Well, it was quite a rollercoaster ride, but my surgery is complete and I'm home recovering and feeling good. Very surprised how well I felt even after the surgery. I went into surgery around 2:45 pm Wednedsay, and was released from the hosptal Friday morning. No complications at all, feeling good and ready to begin my journey.

Thanks for all who offered support. Now I can safely say "make some room for me on the loser's bench".

Take care for now

Jim

All better now
on February 8, 2010 3:45 pm
Well, as you could probably tell from my last post, I was pretty pissed off at "the process". I met with Dr. Shumacher who is in the same network but works out of Sycamore Hospital. Well, what a difference. He seemed genuinely concurred about my situation. It was a very pleasant experience with him and his staff. He was able to schedule me for surgery on 17 Feb 2010, which I might add is much sooner than I thought. Dr. S and his staff explained the differences between Dr. Anderson's methods and his. I spent more time talking to him in one day than I did in five months with Dr. Anderson.

So all in all, things are looking up. He did mentioned that the only reason he was able to schedule me so quickly was because he thought he would be in court fighting with his home builder. As it turns out, he probably settle out of court. I hope I don't get rescheduled again, but at least he was up front and honest.

So here's the plan:
2/11/10 - I go in for an EGD.
Somewhere between the 11th and 17th I need a stress test.
2/17/10 - I go in for surgery.

MY FINGERS ARE ALL CROSSED that the plan comes to fruition!

Til next post

My Story

I have been fighting my weight my whole life. I'm 50 years old and have had my share of diets, weight loss and eventually gains. I look at WLS as a long term tool. The straw that broke the camels back was my waist size. I maintained a size 42 for 25+ YEARS, then what seemed like overnight I went from a size 44, 46, 48 and now 50.....Ugh. You can't buy size 50 waist just anywhere. And even if you can, you have to pay more (understandably). I hate buying clothes in the "big boy" section....

I travel a lot for my job, and still manage to squeeze into the airplane seat without needing an extension, but anymore weight gain, I'm done.

I used to work with a woman who had WLS. When I saw her she was about six months post op. I didn't even recognize her. After speaking to her, she had me sold on the surgery. Then my sister called me and she said she was getting RNY, so that did it, I needed to find out more. By the way, my sister is 4 months Post Op and has lost over 55 lbs. I'm very proud of her.

So I went to a seminar with Doctor Anderson in Kettering Ohio. She spoke frankly about the procedures, is no nonsense, to the point, and tells it like it is, from the types of surgery to the mortality rate and what is required of YOU. She had me sold in about 10 minutes....

In two days, I begin my journey. I plan to NOT LOOK BACK.

Good luck to all of you that make the same choice I have.

Jim
