5 weeks today! on September 26, 2011 8:13 am
Im 5 weeks out today! Im feeling better every day.Total weight loss since surgery is 24lbs. I lost only 1 lb this week, but I thought Id gained, Ive lost 6 in. from my waist, and 5 in. from my hips. those are the big ones Im down 2 jean sizes from a 24 to a 20. thats great, Im pear shaped and carry most of my weight in my hips and thighs, Im amazed that my waist is so small it went from a 42 to a 36. not bad for just 5 weeks, Im off my BP meds but over the last few days its been going up, not sure what is going to happen there. I still drink 2 protein shakes a day, and eat the rest in food, fluids are some times hard for me to drink, but I get most of them in Im starting to feel more like myself. I continue onward, have a appt with my surgeon tomorrow it will be exciting to see what she has to say about my progress, I think Im doing OK. hope all my fellow sleevers are well and progressing, I wish you all the best!!!!!...............Connie

4 WEEKS! on September 18, 2011 5:26 pm
Its been 4 weeks since I had this life changing surgery, and I'm doing well, I notice changes in my body all the time, Ive lost a total of 23 lbs since surgery!! that's great. my incisions have all healed well. no problems there, I'm able to get in all my protein, fluids continue to be a struggle, I'm not hungry, so its hard to make yourself eat and drink when you don't want it! but I know I need it. so I do the best I can, protein shakes are a life saver I drink 2 a day, and get the rest from food, my diet is now soft, pureed, and mushy. so nice to chew. my faves are chicken salad and eggs. I still miss garden salad and fresh tomatoes!!. but it will come in time. my energy has still not returned to normal but I continue to walk daily. I'm still a little nauseous in the morning, my blood sugar is still running a little high in the am around 136, Ive never been diabetic before surgery, I have an appt with my PCP tomorrow to maybe find out. I'm thinking its just the stress of the surgery, and all Ive put my body through, but I will keep track of it. I'm glad I had this surgery. I know I could not have done this without some great support from my family and friends and also from Oh.
I continue on, onward and downward!!!

3 weeks Ive lost 21 lbs since surgery!!! wow The vets were right I stalled between day 9 and day14 then I threw out my scale, today was my weigh in day and Im pleased to report Im down 4 lbs this week!!!, its working for Me, I start soft foods today!! I may be able to do this after all, I can eat almost a whole yogurt, and not quite 1/2 cup of cottage cheese, some times I think Im able to eat too much! I can drink fluids as easily as I did pre surgery, my incisions are completely healed still have a little burning sensation from the largest one but its less frequent than it was, they are just dark lines on my abdomen, my energy level is not quite back but I feel better every day! I get in All my protein and fluids everyday, and walk, I think Im doing Ok, I listen to my body, I have never thrown up, I dont eat to the point of being sick, I rarely finish all that I put on my plate.
meds I currently take: Bp med, multi vit with Iron, colace, B12, Coumadin, and Nexium .
Thanks to all of you who have given me support, I truly could not have done this without you!!!
