wanting to hear about post-op experiences...please

Jul 06, 2010

well, I gained 2 pounds over the 4th of July.  I happily got back into a healthy way of eating after 2 days of splurging.  My question is this....after surgery....can u still treat yourself once in a while???  Not splurging like the holiday, but a treat from time to time...  How long after surgery till u can treat yourself to a yeast roll?  a couple of bites of cheesecake?

I'm also having scared thoughts about my surgery.  I know I mill be going thru with it, but I'm afraid of the possible complications.  I pray that I may be a lucky person and have little to no pain and recover well.  From what I understand, you don't know what your body will tolerate (food) after ur surgery.  I understand protein is a must.  I have no issues with getting protein, but I wonder how well I'll adjust to more solid foods (chewed well)....  I really don't want dumping syndrome (I've had that before and it s****s!!)  I love yougurt, but it's hard to find a yogurt with little sugar.  Activia is good, but I can't have the fruit for awhile post-op.

I'll be going to my first behavioral class next wednesday after my Dr. appt and weigh in.  I'm getting the big thick nutrition manual, the bible, as some would call it.  Guess I'll get aq better idea as to my foods for post op.

I was going to prepare my food before my surgery....there is a protein drink at gnc that has 80 gm protein and I thougyh I could suck on that throughout the day.  Once I take in more protein, then I could switch to Isopure (60 gm protein).  Not sure I want to do the powders, but I know it would be cheaper in the long run.  Unjury I hear is the best, so do I get a flavor or unflavored?  What do u flavor it with?

Oh, I'm getting ahead of myself.  I'll find out more next week.  How long do you haqve to eat pureed baby food??????  yuk!  I'd rather have eggs or cottage cheese....mashed papas....

The surgery is a BIG life changing step!  I'm ready, but scared at the same time.  I suppose thats a healthy way to feel, otherwise you might be abnormal.  hahahaha

I'd like to hear more from people regarding their post-op experiences.  Recovery, pain, walking, blood thinners, days in hospital, days or weeks in recovery at home....foods...

I have a sedentary job so I'm anticipating goign back to work sooner than other people.

yup...want to hear about post op experiences.

thankx....bridget
