Pondering

May 13, 2013

Hi all, I am not one to blog, but I feel the desire to give this a good college try!  I am great at talking and speaking, but I have never really blogged so hoping that I can be of help to people or someone to keep this going!

I have been pondering on where to start.  I could go back way before my 10 year anniversary and bore you all to tears! LOL!   But I will save you from such suffering!  What I will do is give you a short summary of how and what got me here.  And we can go from there.  If my blog helps you, raises questions, etc.  Please feel free to leave a comment, or even private message me and I am happy to discuss my life with you of having a Gastric Bypass with you.  I know that not many Oh'ers on here have not had 10 years in under their belts.  I am willing to share the good and the bad with you.  I will not candy coat anything with you.  Truth needs to be given about these procedures with these because its your life you are dealing with.

I grew you as an overweight child, I went through being put down, bullying and heartbreak as a fat child.  As I got older I suffered as many had with not fitting in seats, not being included because of my size.  In 2000 I had been sent to an Orthopedic Specialist for testing to see how much I was able to do with my disabilities.  This doctor told me that I would be in a wheelchair in 5 years and not be able to work.

He was correct about not being able to work substantially, but as for being into a wheelchair, I am still to this day been able to keep out of it and walking with assistance of a Service Dog .

I give credit to my Orthopedic Surgeon having the bravery to ask me to have the Gastric Bypass.  If it had not been for him, and him helping getting it set up with Dr. Bruce  to help with my Insurance, I do not think I would have gone through it by myself.

Having someone believe in me gave me the support I needed and after I had started losing the weight, seeing the pride he had in me also, helped boost my confidence to make it a complete success.

So, I give Dr. Joseph DiCicco a great deal of credit for believing in me and having the bravery of speaking to me about how the Gastric Bypass would make me more healthier in the long run and save my life.  If it had not been for him  I wouldn't be here writing this blog.  I write this in honor of him at this time.  And send a great amount of Gratitude for his belief in me!

So my question to you all is, was there someone before you had your surgery that made that step and talked to you about having the surgery?  Even if you fought them at first?  Or maybe waited for awhile?   Tomorrow I will talk about my orientation and meeting  Dr. Bruce! :)

Have a wonderful evening all and remember, God Bless you!

Hugs,

Kathy :D
