Dr. Kroh is a great surgeon! He is warm and caring, and makes you feel at ease. My surgery was very successful, and there were no complications. I highly reccomend Dr. Kroh!

My Story

Well hello!  My name is Carly - I'm 21 years old, and just had VSG surgery on May 18, 2012.

I'm currently in school to become a software or web programmer, and I have a part-time job as an accounting clerk.  I live with my parents and our five beautiful cats.  Overall, I'm very happy with my life, except for my weight.

My struggle with weight loss started a few years ago.  I suffered from severe depression, and gained about 100 pounds.  I have since recovered from my depression, but despite my best efforts, I haven't been able to lose the weight.  I also have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) which really hinders my weight loss.

I decided to have weight loss surgery after failing at losing weight on my own.  I figured I would be a good candidate because I don't have long-term issues with food: I gained my weight from an illness, and thus I'd be less likely to re-gain the weight later on.  Plus, with my PCOS, I need extra help to be able to lose weight.  However, I know that this surgery is not the "easy way out" - it's going to be a lot of hard work to get where I need to be.  I just need that little extra push to get me there.

I'm on this site to meet other people and hear their stories.  My doctor recommended that I find someone close to my age who has had the surgery so I know what to expect afterward in "younger" terms.  So hopefully I'll be able to meet some great people.

I'm really looking forward to my new, healthy life (and to making new friends on this site).  Thanks, and good luck to everyone!
