Countdown: 3 weeks, 3 days

Oct 05, 2009

Surgery is creeping up on me. Key word: creeping. OMG, hurry up already.

I had a big, long stream-of-conscious post but who wants to read about all that crap? It was boring to me and I lived it. So I'll just make a random little list instead.

1. Plane tickets are bought. We're spending two nights in San Diego which equals to one day of sight-seeing in which I won't be allowed to eat anything so we'll have to find non-food things to do. Too much of our entertainment revolves around eating so this should be an interesting experience.

2. I made a list (haha I made a list that included making a list! OCD anyone?) of a few more things I want to buy before surgery: Papaya enzyme, supposedly good for digestion; Omega 3 (chewables) for fighting off The Crazy when it comes to visit; and fiber supplements.

3. My awesomely comfortable Ikea computer chair broke yesterday. A screw holding the back on popped right off. It wasn't that unexpected as it has been loose for awhile, but still a bummer. Luckily I wasn't leaning waaay back in it like I usually do. Even luckier, my husband has the exact same chair from Ikea and he never sits in it so I stole his. It's the exact same chair, but mine was still more comfortable. MY ASS GROOVE!

4. I need to be working on my sculpting project but I can't motivate myself. It is due in about 24 hours so I really need to either work on it or go to sleep. I'll probably go to sleep. Oh, let's be honest. I'll probably spend a couple of hours with my BFF Hulu (we don't have cable), then read the VSG forums for a little bit, maybe play some EverQuest II, THEN maybe go to sleep at about 5 am. That's about normal for me. I really hope I get that job on Wednesday.

Pre-op shopping

Oct 02, 2009

Last night I was waiting for my husband to get out of class and I went to Target to pick up a few things I think I'll need after surgery. I got a new Bella Cucina Rocket Blender that lets you do the blending in individual cups, mini food processor (but I later discovered the blender has a blade base that does basically the same thing), a set of four Anchor Hocking microwave, freezer and oven-safe clear glass ramekins with plastic lids (somewhat similar to this - couldn't find the exact same thing on the Target website). I wanted cocktail silverware, but I didn't like what they had. I plan to get this ice-maker too, but I forgot last night.

Earlier this week I wanted to make the most of my free trial of Amazon Prime (free TWO DAY shipping!) so I got a container of Click protein powder and I should have two containers of Unjury on the way to me at some point. (They weren't covered by Prime for some reason. WTF, Amazon??)  And here's where the Prime thing really paid off: I got this awesome gravity bike stand that lets you sort of stack your bikes. We were kind of thinking of getting rid of the bikes altogether (since we've ridden them exactly twice - the last time being about five years ago), but I couldn't decide if I thought I would use it after surgery or not so we opted to keep them. Living in a one-bedroom apartment isn't really conducive to storing two adult-sized bicycles though. Right now they are under a bunch of crap in the back of our (actually very large) closet. I have a lot of reorganizing and rearranging to get done before October 27, when we fly to San Diego.

In other news, I have a new job prospect! I go in for a typing test on Wednesday and I'm assuming an interview after that at some point. Cause you know I'm going to pass that typing test. I've been chatting and gaming and basically internetting/computering since 1995. I type like a mofo. (FYI - I've been unemployed since June 1, 2008. Ouch.)
