Hello!

Jun 27, 2011

I just joined this site as a resource to focus on my weight lost journey. I started the weight lost process in February. My starting weight was 306. I could not believe that I hit 300 pounds. I knew that it was time for me to do something different to lost this weight. February is when I decided to attend the orientation about the surgery and I had my first doctor's appointment.  I was able to get all of my testing down and with my insurance I did not have to wait for 6 months but I did have a lot of things going on at work so I decided to have my surgery in June. At first the doctor asked me to lose 15 pounds prior to the surgery.  The first day of March is when I joined the gym and started making small changes in my diet such as no sodas and fried food. I lost 12 pounds in about a month. Then I started treating myselt a little too much and gained 2 pounds back. I guess in my mind I was saying good bye to food since I knew that I was going to be having the surgery but it caused more harm then good. The last thing I wanted to do was gain weight prior to the surgery. My surgeon was happy with my 10 pounds weight loss but asked me to do the liquid diet 2 weeks prior to the surgery.  I lost 10 pounds prior to the surgery. On my surgery day (6/14) I was 286. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks out and I have lost 16 pounds.  I have had some struggles. Driinking protein shakes has been really difficult. I have been able to drink them about 3 times a day but started struggling last week. I started eating soft foods for dinner to get the protein in my body rather than drinking it.  Has anyone else did this?
