Surgeon Testimonial

Stephen V. Hamn M.D. F.A.C.S
So, everyone has faults, we are human. If you care about promtness, he is not the doctor for you. Every appointment I've had with Dr. Hamn I've had to wait at least an hour. One appointment, which I had my two toddlers and husband waiting on me, took 2.5 hours to see the doctor. I arrived at 3:30pm and I wasn't seen by Dr. Hamn until after 6pm. This was VERY, VERY upsetting for me. So, for this reason, I would have to NOT give Dr. Hamn a good reccommendation. He did a good job on my surgery, knew what he was doing, experienced; but had no concern for my schedule whatsoever. I would reccommend the sleeve surgery to a friend, but not Dr. Hamn.

Finally figured out how to ZAP out a stall! (for me...
on March 22, 2013 1:21 pm

So, all of these stalls I was facing were awful! I finally figured out what was going on after talking to my mom, who also had the VSG sleeve op.

I wasn't eating enough.

Yes, our new tummies are small and we can only fit a small amount in them, so that's not what I'm talking about.

I wasn't eating enough times throughout the day.

Now when I wake up my goal is to eat something small. (I'm not a morning eater, so that's why I say, something small.) It jump starts my metabolism. I usually go for some nuts or a slice of cheese. And, now I make it a point to eat throughout the day. Before I was only eating in the afternoon once and the evening once...and I was quite content with that...I didn't have an appetite before the afternoon...

Now, appetite or not, I "graze" throughout the day. Eating a piece of cheese, or 1/2 an ounce of nuts, or a piece of bacon, or an ounce of fish, etc...I try to eat at least 5 times a day.

And, I try to not drink anything for at least 10 minutes before eating, that way I can eat more....otherwise I might only be able to eat half of a snack.

So, in the past 2 weeks, I've lost 6 pounds. My BMI is 28.9 and my weight is 190. :-)

Safe to say that snacking all through the day is working wonders to keep the stalls at bay...at least for now!

Hugs, Love n Skinny Thoughts,

Beth

6 Months Post-Op
on March 6, 2013 5:34 pm

What a journey this last 6 months have been! Just knowing 6 months ago today I was laying in a hospital bed after just having the vertical sleeve surgery. Oh the first few weeks were difficult, let me tell you! But, my weight was pouring off and that kept my chin up!

My doctor and I set a goal for a 100 pound weight loss by my 6 month post-op mark. I surpassed that goal and lost 113 pounds!

36 pounds to go and 6 months to get there to meet my ultimate goal weight of 160 by my 1 year anniversary.

Keeping this short and sweet...Would I do it again? In a heartbeat!

Hugs, Love n Skinny Thoughts,

Beth

Another Stall...
on February 24, 2013 3:25 pm

So, I've been stuck at 202 for 11 days now...the scale and I are no longer on speaking terms...it is what it is...

I am down 107 pounds altogether.  I will be 6 months post-op next Wednesday. Thinking in those terms makes me feel much better. My goal was to be in ONEderland by my 6 month post-op mark, so I've got 3 pounds to go to hit that in 10 days...we shall see.

And then my 2nd goal is to hit my ultimate goal of 160 by my 1 year mark. I have 42 pounds to go to hit my ultimate goal and over 6 months to get there.

All in all I'm confident in myself to hit both goals on schedule...these stalls are just SO DEPRESSING! surprise

But, God is good and I am getting there.

Hugs, Love and Skinny thoughts,

Bethenlightened
