More checks in blocks!

Nov 08, 2010

I made it through the psych eval today so either I'm not crazy or I'm just crazy enough to have surgery!  LOL  Sorry, couldn't resist.

I also sat down with my surgeon and he's ordered a bunch of tests so I'm back to being a busy bee.  I'm having a sleep study Friday night.  It's doubtful that I have sleep apnea but since I do snore and don't sleep very well we need to just make sure.

I probably won't be able to have my surgery the last week of December like I was hoping because my Vitamin D is low and I have to take a Rx for 8 weeks to get it back up.  Sigh.  I'm trying not to get too bummed about that.  I need to just let go of the idea of having complete control over how everything unfolds.  Patience is a virtue . . .

I'm also seeing an endocrinologist this Thursday.  Back in July I had a CT scan and it revealed a 15mm nodule on my thyroid.  Nobody likes to hear news like that but I was actually hoping it would lead to the cause of my being overweight and some magic pill would cure me.  No.  Blood tests came back perfectly normal so my doc said we just need to watch it and make sure the thyroid doesn't act up.  Well, Dr. G has a different stance on that and he wants a proper workup.  Sounds good to me -- I'm all for thoroughness.  I was delighted that the specialist could see me this week!

As if all that wasn't enough, I have to see a cardiologist, too.  Now, this one's overkill in my opinion, but , okay . . .  See, back in July I was having some weird tingling/burning in my upper left chest area as well as the back shoulder blade.  It made me nervous because I've heard and read so many times that women's heart attach symptoms can be subtle and overlooked.  I took myself to the ER and they kept me overnight to do all sorts of tests (like the CT that showed the growth on my thyroid).  Well, I was evaluated by a cardiologist and they had me undergo a stress test on the treadmill.  I was cleared of any heart problem.  But, I can understand Dr. G wanting to be safe and avoid any possibility of complications so I guess I get to do it all over again.

So, I'll be jumping through hoops for the next few weeks.  Oh, and my endoscopy is scheduled for Dec 7th.  Maybe by then everything else will have been completed and I'll be able to get a surgery date.  Oooops, there I go again -- trying to predict and control how it's all going to unfold . . .

Futurefitnhappy's pooped and heading to bed.  Sweet dreams!
