Stress eating

Apr 27, 2010

Had a bit of a slide backwards the last couple of weeks - stress eating.  I retired a couple of years ago after teaching for 36 years.  I had a part-time job at our university library for the first year and loved it.  But due to the economy, I wasn't hired back for a second year.  It was just as well, because my husband and I had some serious health issues and surgeries to work through, so I wasn't supposed to work this past year.  Lately I've been a bit depressed and had started to stress eat.  We've been helping our 2 children with some financial problems, my husband was off work due to spinal surgery and our savings have shrunk to the point where I've become worried about money.  Haven't done that in years.

So I had to really take myself in hand.  I prayed and have decided to "do my best, and let God do the rest."  All I can do is continue to look for a part-time job, interview when asked and do my best.  I may have to tell my children "no."  But I do have to take care of myself and that means to stay as busy as possible.  I've started to spring clean the house, work in the yard (even when it's raining sometimes) and to make a daily plan of action (old teaching habits die hard!).  I had re-gained 6 pounds since the beginning of the month, and now have dropped 4 of those!!

Just do your best, that's all I know how to do.
