A great weekend & I chopped off my hair!

Jul 25, 2011

I took today (Monday) off of work, so I had a long & fun filled weekend. Here's a little breakdown of what I did and a few pictures.

Friday we had a "Vote for the Best Pizza" party at my place. It was SO fun!!! Basically you invite a bunch of your friends (we had about 8 people) and they each bring their favorite pizza from their favorite pizzeria. Then we all taste them to see which is the best. Funnily enough, the one friend that made her pizza herself ended up with the most votes for the best! LOL ..... It just goes to show not everything has to be ordered in (I gotta get her recipe!) ... Even I voted for her pizza over the one I bought from my favorite pizza place.
Anyways -  You could do that with anything! Mac n' cheese, wine, chili, cupcakes, ..... or for the people out there who have friends in the WLS community you could do it with protein powders or bars, etc. It's SO FUN!

Saturday I went out with a couple friends for a birthday party to listen to a band in Downtown Saratoga (opening weekend for the Track = Stay away from Down town Saratoga BTW) ...
Being that it was her birthday we all got dolled up. No, we didn't make her wear a birthday Tiara this year, but she did wear a pink tutu dress! LOL So cute!
Anyways, back to the story .... For the first time in a LONG time ......... I got hit on by men - A LOT!
The birthday girl and I were dancing our hearts out - It was 90+ degrees out and it was an outside venue, so needless to say we all had the "sweaty glow" going on. LOL
So I had a couple guys try and dance with me. No biggie. One guy told me his friend "didn't F*ck he made love" LMAO!!!!
One fella even followed me out as I was leaving at 11:00 at night and asked me for my number (he was actually REALLY CUTE!)
Now, I bring all this up because I'm SO not used to that. I've had a couple guys hit on me here and there since I've had the surgery, but not one after another after another after another. LOL
It was flattering and exhausting all at the same time.
Here is a pic with me (yellow dress), the birthday girl (pink tutu dress), and her friend Missy (black dress). I started the night out in heels but within an hour of standing I had to change into flippy flops. I just don't have the stamina for all that!

Sunday I went and visited my GF who is a hair dresser. the "gang" hung out for the evening, playing the Box Kinect Sports game which was fun! It was amazing to do all that physical activity and not be dying and winded!
After me telling her how pathetic my sad excuse for hair was ... She decided to chop it off for me! We cut probably about 6"-8" off! It's now chin length with a sorta inverted bob!!! I've never ever ever ever had this short of hair before in my life! I kinda like it!

And finally - Today I went to the local college with my BF so he could register for fall classes to start his Registered Dietitian Education and I sat down in a school desk that had PLENTY of room between me and the desk! I was so stoked I took a picture! LOL

So that was my weekend everyone! Full of Non scale victories. Drunk men hitting on me. Me eating horribly. Chopping my hair off. And fitting into a standard school desk/chair.

I hope everyone had a great weekend also!

Kisses!

1 thing off the bucket list!

Jul 17, 2011

Here I am, 11.5 months out and flying through the air with the greatest of ease!

By that, I mean I went Zip-lining over the weekend with my local WLS support group, and my BF Mike. I had an amazing time with amazing people!

A year and 140 lbs ago I would have never thought I'd be harnessed up, and climbing through the trees at 50+ feet up in the air. It was so exhilarating!! I was pumped! You definitely use a lot of upper body strength, a lot of balance, and a lot of courage (most of the latter).

We arrived there at about 10:00, after meeting up with the group, buying ($3) the optional gloves to wear, getting harnessed up, and learning the safety training - We were in the trees by 11:00. You clip your harness onto safety lines the entire time so there's no real fear of falling more than a couple feet, but it's still there in the back of your mind "What if?"
Walked tight ropes, suspended beams, nets, logs, swung from ropes, and zip-lined from tree to tree. You had the option to stop after each level, or progress up to level 5 which was the hardest. My boyfriend and I made it easily through level 4 and decided to stop since we were exhausted and didn't want to push it too much.

After everyone finished the group sat at the picnic tables and chatted for a little while. Tossed around the idea of doing a Kayaking trip. Which I'm ALL GAME FOR!!

After Zip-lining the group went out for lunch. Mike and I shared a chicken fiesta salad thingy that wasn't the greatest. But it was food. And ended the afternoon with a mcdonalds ice cream cone.
Once we were home we took an hour and a half nap. Very much needed-best nap of our lives type of nap!

Today I'm sore. My upper arms and shoulders got a workout for sure! But it's a good hurting feeling. Lets me know I worked myself.

Here's a few pictures of me throughout the day.
